    ... and then this happened

The maple in our side yard decided it wasn't going to take the high winds anymore. Yup, that's our house underneath there. There are unconfirmed reports of a tornado in the area, and judging by the branches, limbs and trees in and around our place, the reports might be accurate. Until the tree...

    Another one...

We picked up this little doll three weeks ago, as a rescue. She'll be 5 months old May 3. She came at the tail end of her mange treatment and brought a fear of loud voices & noises. The mange is proving difficult to get rid of, but luckily it's not contagious. The fear of anything loud is gone...

    Another turd for... polishing?

This arrived in my driveway back in mid-September. My neighbour - who used to work for us - and his brother raced this car in the late 90s and early 2000s. A 460-something powered big block, with a nice four link, 4.something gears and living on a weight-restricted diet, it had been hit at the...

Another sad day in the resto household...

Otto, our Great Dane, left us this afternoon. He made it 9 years, 363 days. A good long time for a Dane, especially good for him considering the challenges he faced. We're going to miss the Big Dummy. :(

    Dottie...

What were we thinking!? This little bundle of cuteness came home with us last Saturday. English Springer Spaniel, tri-colour female, at 11 weeks old. It just wasn't the same here, with Lola gone, so we went out "just to look..." Yeah. We all know how that one plays out. ;) She's tinier than...

A sad week in the resto household.

Last Thursday, the 4th, this little left us. She was my near-constant companion for 12 years, 4 months and 21 days. A good life, filled with loads of love. Even though we have two other dogs and three cats, Lola left a huge hole. :(

    Polishing a turd...

I did a LOT of metal work on the right rear quarter, rear corner, and rear panel on this Westy last summer. A cool old bus, but a ratty one, nonetheless. It's back this year for another go-round, this time for mostly dents, chips, blisters and some metal work to the right front dog leg. Nothing...

Summer project gone awry AKA Resto's rusty ride

The ride we took in the Super Beetle back on May 27 didn't go the way we wanted it to, though the end result has been not-so-uncommon with this car. Let's just say the Bug has a fetish for flatbed tow trucks... While the driver was unloading it in the driveway, I took quick peek underneath it...

    Summer project

Or more aptly sub-titled: What fat old retired bodymen with nothing better to do get themselves into... My '74 Super Beetle. When I rebuilt this car back in '94 - '95, the original right floor pan was still serviceable. Surprising, to say the least, as the rest of the car was pretty tough. How...

    For sale again...

I did this little drop top around '03/'04. Rough, rough, rough. One of those "It's ready for final sand and paint" cars. 100+ hours later, it was. The owner fell into some serious medical issues and had to sell it last year. Now, its up for sale again. Too much power for the new owner, perhaps...

    '37 Hot Rod

Did this just before I retired. The owner took just over a year to put it all together and get it road worthy. I didn't spray it but smoothed it out, lined up all the panels and trued up the gaps. 'Glass body with a really thin gel coat, it's pretty well built. I copied the really neat hidden...

    Another...

My buddy Ron found this on youtube. It's his 1969 Hurst Olds that I finished in 2002. He's still got it, still looks just as good as it did 14 years ago. Someone had butchered the body pretty badly before he bought it. Took a lot of hard work to get it looking as good as it does. The exterior...

    Another former customer...

I did this back around '04. One of those "It's all ready for paint, just needs final sanding and sprayed" jobs... Not quite. A couple hundred hours later and it came out like this. I also did the '60 Camino in the background for the same guy. Both cars have won a couple Best Paint awards over...

    Reverse mortgages...

Anyone familiar with them? They're only offered in Canada through the Home Equity Bank - CHIP. My parents, 79 and 80 years old are experiencing some health and mobility issues the last few years. They're not poor, as far as I can determine. They are, however, incredibly stubborn when it comes...

    Fort Mac

Some pretty serious shit going on up there. The size of the fire has grown 8 or 9 times since Tuesday and shows no sign of being brought under control anytime soon. My Uncle has - had - a house in the Beacon Hill part of town. Nothing there but rubble now and the charred remains of his 7000 mile...

    Not a Mopar, but...

... I'd love to own it! A little on the pricey side, but if it's as good as it looks and as good as he says, it's a decent price. That era Poncho makes my pants shorter. :)...

    Old Stud

One of my body and paint jobs from around '04-'05. Several other shops did various parts of the truck - my current boss did the taillight install - and lucky us got to make sure everything fit and to smooth everything out. We spent a shitload of time getting the front clip squared away...

    Butterscotch Newport...

I painted this old girl back in '97. Then, it was an original paint, very low mile car. There was no paint code anywhere. The closest match - almost a perfect match - was '70 or '71 Bahama Yellow. I've still got the formula written in my log book. :) it's been for sale for a while, and is still...

    My '78 LeBaron

Taken back in '92, around the time I got married. 318 with 360 heads, 4bbl from a 360, cheap Hedman headers (tight fit), ditched the lean burn, swapped the A/C over to a newer compressor, slightly worked 904 trans and a 2.94 rear. Ran pretty good for a million mile 318. Arizona fenders, doors...

Doing this at work: Glass-bodied 38 Ford Hot Rod. Really nice body, well thought out and nice thick 'glass. Truing up all the gaps, some fill work here and there, lots of sanding on that purty yellow gel coat (that shit is hard as concrete!), fitting the fenders, hood, etc...
