Wagon progress!

Finally have the garage expanded, cleaned out, mostly anyway, and the wagon is in with the hood off. I played around with it a bit tonight, I have the top hoses disconnected, wiring harness unhooked and now up on jack stands ready to disconnect everything underneath.

I was going to yank the motor this weekend, but deer season ends Sunday, I'll get it out on Monday.

If I have a nice day next week, shouldn't be an issue, I'll get the engine bay degreased, pressure washed and painted up ready for motor install.

I'll post up some pics when I get her apart.

Oh, I did see the steering box is covered in power steering fluid, so that moved up on the priority list a couple steps.

Nice job.....that is one big hoist you have there to haul all that out in one piece!

Love your new quote....I concur. ;)

that sway bar mount configureation scares the hell out of me

i imagine with an engine bay big enif for a big bad coal burner..that it came out without so much as a peep

I'm not a fan of that sway bar setup myself. I was thinking about how I could redesign that so it would be more solid.

That hoist is a Harbor Freight piece that I bought without the jack, the jack is a longer 3 ton unit that I think gives it more lift. My surprise came when I missed the ceiling, ceiling fan and light fixtures.

Since I actually took my time with this one, drained all the fluids, and made sure that everything was disconnected, it came out easier than I expected. From the time I hooked the chain to the transmission clearing the front bumper it was less than 10 minutes. I impressed myself, and I rarely do that.

I've loved that Mattis quote, but I hadn't heard the part about being prepared.

That's excellent! :)

Nothing wrong with that sway bar mounting. It's to arrest up and down movement and nothing more. Some new link ends and you're all set.

That empty engine bay is screaming "Feed me!".

Get the big 1.125, or 1.250 front bar from Firmfeel. I have the 1.125 bar on the wagon, was one of the best upgrades I have made.

How do the end links mount? Are they still on the strut rods or do they mount on the LCA's?

Your garage... it's so... deep. :hmmm:

I annexed part of the back porch for a work shop area, so I added about 180sqft to the garage, :giggedy: which puts me at roughly 840sqft of floor space.

Well, I got to working on the car again this evening, and long story short, I decided to swap out the master cylinder, you know, for safety's sake. I'm more than certain the booster is bad, now, I have a basically brand new booster, but it's from a '66 Charger. Will it work?

When end I do the swap I'm going to install my brand new, late model aluminum master cylinder, because I could really use that 3 pound weight reduction... I'm also looking at swapping the calipers, pads and stainless brake hoses, jus' because.

Pause button has been pushed on this one until I can save up the funds to collect the necessary funds for parts. Don't fear, she should be back under the knife in the next few months.

Well, I found a '70 Challenger, and I have the Valiant project going on so something had to give if I was going to stay married... the Town and Country had to go.

So after being listed for a couple months on CL I had a few ridiculous offers, and I was offered a trade, a 1990 Firebird. Just a basic V6 model, but an extremely clean example with relatively low miles, 108k. So I took it. Once I replace the passenger window motor and one headlight motor I should be able to flip it quickly and break even.

The wagon has gone to a loving new home, where she'll be restored to her former glory. I sent her down the road with a ton, almost literally, of extra and optional parts.

sad that we wont be able to see the progress on it..especialy after seeing it hauled across the states

I know. I'll keep in touch with the new owner, he's kind of an all around guy. Has owned BMW's, told me he put a 5 series V8 and 6 speed into a 3 series, showed me pics too, sweet little car. He's not brand specific, but he loves old Mopar wagons and has been looking for years, I think she's in good hands.

:giggedy:

Drove the Chicken to work yesterday, runs good, just need to replace the IAC.

Stupid alternator came unplugged too, and it died on the way home. Once I got that straightened out the rest of the ride home was uneventful, other than an idiot in a Focus. He got to watch the tail lights fade into the distance.

I remember why I don't like 3rd Gen F bodies, even without the T-tops it was a rattly, squeaky, uncomfortable ride.

Well, my wife and daughter laid claim to the Firebird, so it looks like it'll be hanging around for a while.

I'm getting a '70 Challenger so all is well.

If the wife and daughter like the fire chicken...then as you know...best to let them have it!

Sad to see the wagon go...but we can't keep them all. I've been trying ot sell the Desoto for over 7 months now...had very little, to no action on it. And I've been lowering the price every couple weeks...still nothing. Even trying for trades.
