Whatcha Doin?

Well we all wish we could be in that boat as well....:D

Many times the most difficult part of re-tarment is developing the "I don't have to" attitude....

"I don't have to....."......

....set the alarm

....get out of bed when the alarm sounds

....drive to work

....devote my time to someone else

....do things on a schedule

....get to bed early so I can get up with the alarm

....etc....etc....

Well was one of the things I used to joke about with my Father after he retired. He only got 3 years or so before passing, but I used to ask him if was sleeping in. He would always respond that it was getting better....he was able to sleep in to about 6:30am after decades of being up at 5am every day. :D

Well, I haven't been around for a while, but I'll hop in. I produce and host a TV show on rodeo. Specifically, we deal with the professional ropers. People think TV is easy money. Not. We make our money selling commercials and other advertising on the show. Today is the debut of our third season. In the link is the trailer for our new season.

Bonus points for anyone who can point me out in this video!

Dude... I forgot about that.

I provide technical gear to network broadcast, independent production companies and have lit several broadcast/video productions. I have many good friends in the business. It ain't easy money.

nothins changed on my end..aside from being slower, and more forgetfull since the head injury

been takin care of my dissabled mother ALONE since 88(age 13)..yup dad left that year not long after she got out of the hospital..his fault btw(construction, him driving the front loader)....odd jobbin for the longest time..these days its mostly engine swaps, general repairs and lots of rust repair,/custom/body/paint..bikes to tractors makes no differance to me...entirely word of mouth either from selling something off, buying parts, or the guys at parts houses recomending me..and i REFUSE to take something on if the owner is a dick..just wont do it....right now ive actualy got a waiting list..so im proud of that...keep in mind my mother gets ZERO state assistance just an anuity from the tractor company which "just" pays the monthly bills....and not thru bad winters...ive been supporting the "extra" costs of stuff for 10+ years sucsessfuly..on top of having money for my own projects, tools to make life easier, and the funds to pay off bills my girl had BEFORE we got married..and now..ive been officialy supporting her 100% since last year(in a few days) but i had been helping her with her bills the last 3 years while she was in canada.....she is happilly not working helping me with mom as well as getting me re-organized, the house pretified for a SOLID refi..and helping me sell off some stuff

yes i live at home with mom..but..its more of a i take care of mom she lives with me..the house loan is in her name yes..but my names on it...if it wasnt for me..shed have been stuffed in a nursing home and likely died from many things.....so..im a full time live in care giver first..a wrench second...but hey..with the shit hand i was delt..i still managed to find a perfect wife, have many toys, and as of right this second a house thats only got 80k overhead and still ZERO "help" but thanx to obama she finaly has medical coverage that isnt out of personal pocket....that man saved her life last year when things got real ugly thanx to a "new" loop hole in the system that looks at income from a tax perspective alloweed her full free medical(dr/rx NOT CARE)

Yeah fella. I have always respected the dignity with which you have accepted the life that's been given you.

I can relate to the head injury issues. Still dealing with the results of a wicked concussion I took in Dec 2012..... Head aches, frustrating memory issues and a much quicker temper. Meds have helped a lot, but life is not the same to be sure.

did i post the pic's?...it looked like someone had beaten me with my bike.....out in my shop...2013?2014?..i dont know honestly..i just know it wasnt last year and it helped promt my wife to finaly leave canada..life too damn short..and shit happens so...enjoy every second that you can right?>

mine..has me with days where working "under" a rig is impossible due to dizzy confusion....and my semi short term memory is shit...specificly if its A, unimportant, B unintresting, C,long winded, D, more than an hour abo but less than a couple days ago....numbers are good...details are bad....temper..yes and no..i have a shorter fuse and my saintly patiance is easier to override....and i seriously get frustrated easily and frustration due to memory= anger....i also have my "off balance" days where im just too clumsy to do anything...memory issues aside ive learned to accept and work with it.....my long term is sharp as it ever was...but when you walk away from a car to grab a tool and forget what you were after..its annoying..or hop on a bike to go grab a simple stupid part and forget what you were after SUCKS...honestly the WORST of it is the neck/sholder pain issues that have been narrowed down to c5,6,7 have narrowed up putting pressure on the nerves creating pain and numbness that will dissable me sometimes...and have hand and numb a lost cause.....the more i ride the less of an issue it is..so..me and my wife get out on the trails every chance we get at a minimum of 6 hours her on the quad me on my xl600..im not sure if its the vibrations or the movement or even the weight of a helmet..but something causes it to lessen...and keep it at bay...the meds they want to give are...no....but the shots im considering

Keep on keeping on, 69.5. Taking care of loved ones is one of life's top priorities, and it looks like you're doing a great job. Respect.

its funny when we get some random nurse check in now with the health care thingy..who will inevitably say "your doing X" wrong you should be doing it this way" to which my response is alwasy "i have been doing this for over 25 years without issue and i think i know this body better than you do"

Mad props to you 69... taking care of the business that needs taken care of.

I can relate to the head injury stuff. I took a header straight down to a concrete floor a few years ago. Broken nose, broken orbital bone around my left eye, moderate (or so they thought) concussion... and bruising that lasted several weeks. It was literally months before the slightest exertion wouldn't let to a massive headache. I didn't think I'd ever be back to work, and for me, that was hard to take.
The concussion left me with some fuzziness when tired, a slight amount of short-term memory lapse and even more unsteadiness on my feet at times. The wobblies led to a backwards spill two years ago and that just about totaled my lower back, so these days walking far, fast or often is out of the question.
My stunning personality, superior intelligence and extreme modesty remain just as before, so I've got that going for me, which is nice. :)

So, this is making the rounds among tech people on Facebook today:

For the record, I have done all of these things at one time or another except guitar tech..... I even finished up the last few dates of a small tour doing front of house audio when the guy who owned the PA quit and left it with us....

Lighting and staging were what used up most of my time tho.

I'd post the video of the guys dropping stage weights out of the grid, but I think it got taken down.. the sound the piano made was ungodly
