in the back of my mind ive ALWAYS wanted a show car........mind you that would NEVER slow me down from abuseing the hell out of it and enjoying it as much as humanly posible .....a budget is a budget...will see how "show/magazine" material it ends up...im certain it will make the micro/mini club mag cover...thats a given....god knows ive got the "high res" pic's for "history" if i some how manage to make it into something mainstream which would KICK ASS!!!!...but i will not be effected if i do or dont make it into something..........other than "hotrod" there isnt anything out there that it fits into catagory wise...import tuner..well sorta as ive seen 50s toyota's updated with more moddern stuff....god knows its got the exotic italian stuff in it to grab some serious attention
on the hood flipping forward i see that as a "easy way out" (but not in a bad way more in a "safe" way..cant wrap the hood over the roof if it opens forward) since mounting hinges to my tube frame up there would be CAKE!!....and i have 3 nice referances for flip forward hoods to see what and how things need to be done...the celica, the gtv6, and the 58 ford are all flip forward hoods...soooooo ive had PLENTY of years to get used to working around a flip forward hood...hell ive had the 58ford since around 94 and swaped 4 engines(its on its 5th from me changing my mind)
after eyeballing a set of 69!!! hinges(67/8 are castiron) i think the way they open would work flawlessly...latch would likely be a hoop and door latch from an import(light simple and useualy supplyed with twin mounts 1 for power pull 1 for manual)...nice thing about a-body trunk hinges is not only do they open up but they open up and out away from the body...where "most" flip forwards either flip and slide infront of the grill or flip the front edge into a rescess in the front headder panel
at night i sit here racking my brain trying to build a dash and console that blends well and complements the car....my brain hurts

first off a shot from the passenger seat down that wicked hood and cowl
next up a pair of shots showing some size...thats a paint stirr stick normaly supplyed when buying auto paint
3 floor shots....the welding smoke really shows off the sheer amount of pieces required to make that floor.......that DARK spot on the left...ohh thats where a started another fire under the car that took a few mins to put/burn out..seems there was 1 remaining rubber line under there with some fuel in it
this last one keeps comeing back to haunt me......i swear the thing would look better as a delivery than a wagon
...just not sure i want the the required job to do it or the "dark space" left inside the car
my legs are sore as hell contorting around and kneeling down in that car to get myself in the right spot and angle to see what im doing

got a lil done today..BEAUTIFUL day..to bad about 2 hours in a migraine droped my ass and brought in alot of abdominal pain..go figure killer weather and stuck in the house
anyway heres 3 pic's.......its the next step in getting the hood "right" imo..and thats narrowing it up so that i can start getting the other side in the correct location...the nightmare of this was finding and mantaining a centerline....i picked a point on each side of the windshieled frame and would make curved lines at 10 inch intervals and wherever the right and left curves would line up was my centerline.....if there was an easier way to do it i couldnt come up with one
a note on the hood....i wanted to maintain the "stock" 50's chevy center seam(for now) so that the hood has a support ridge to keep it from flexing but also so i can just bolt the halves together for the time being once cut that is....after all is called "done" on the hood i plan to weld the seam....unless i manage to find a 54-57(58-61 is different..DAMNIT!) lloyd hood ornament in which case i will run a aluminum trim strip down the center of the hood
what you "cant" see is that i hammer and dolleyed out a few small dents in the hood that were bothering me
the first shot was a straight slice on the "new" centerline..the 2 notches were cut so i could overlap the right half and use it to mark the pie to be removed from the hood..the notches were required due to the small "stock" chevy hood ornement mounting spots to keep it from throwing the line off any
due to where i needed to cut it had ZERO effect on the nose...what you cant see below the last shot is that is where the cut ends and the hood V's back away from itself....this is intentional to get the hood to fit the fenderlines the way i wanted..the nice part is most of the wedge where the hood spreads away from itself will get cut off anyway as its hanging into the grill area

wasted alot of today in the gtv6 enjoying a beautiful day..droped off my drive line for the lloyd to be cut...its a 2 piece and i need the "rear" section shortened ...it currently measures 24-3/8...when i get it back it should be between 4-1/8 to 4-3/8(theres a 1/4inch tolerance in alfa's sooo anywhere in that 1/4 inch and its fine lol
grabbed some LATE lunch ..and figured id go clean the shop as it had gotten NASTY from all the welding cutting grinding ..lots of leftovers on the floor tools everywhere [smilie=f:.....no mind you im storing ALOT in this 20x20 too so only the lloyd could move out.......shoved her out and got the floor clean(ignore the oil spot i had to swap out the speedo sensor with the gtv6)
anyway i figured id get some "quality" shots while pulling her back in..the last shot i mocked up the grill just to get a feel for if im sold on useing it

Whenever I read this thread I can't help but wonder about the reactions to this car when it's done - especially from those that know Lloyds.... "WTF IS this?"
I'm betting that you'll be grinning from ear to ear every time you hear that.
They'll see some Lloyd in there, but then: the hood... the fenders, doors and quarters..... their head'll be scrambling. Then they'll get to the details and their head will explode. LOL!

a sinlgle wiper has been located...by mistake i might add.....iv ZERO idea what it came off..in fact i stumbled onto it rumageing thru a wrecker one day and it poked me while i was looking at the interior on an imperial...the wiper is TINY TINY TINY im certain its from something old cause its stainless ..and to small to be off a vw bug
DFC last years show i was getting those same sounds and loveing every min of it...even in the mini/micro car circles lloyd owners are rare in the states..in fact the only club worth mentioning is in germany....of the ppl i listened too i think i met 3 owners or ex owners and one gave me a small treasure of old lloyd dealer stuff
right now i sent out an email to the micro cars that im in search of a hood ornement
..its the earlyer model and i think i like it!!

well not much of work that i can really get pics of ..alot of marking, scribing and measuring..mapping out my next plan of attack
ALOT of hood alignment and door adjustment(talk about a HUGE fight with hinges and making more adjustment into a part that had almost ZERO adjustment ..alot of bending and tweeking on the passenger door over the last 2 days)....im prepping to do the drivers side hood to fender fill section but i did get the hood V'ed out so that its center line IS the centerline on the car for BOTH halves..took ALOT of doing
almost have the passenger side hood gap finalized at the cowl
the tape line ...the bottom edge of the tape is "probably" where i will chop off the hood...but im considering to V it out and keep the stock bottom edge of the hood...much the same way i squared out the centerline of the hood...as you see i have a small V that must be filled too (trying to decide over a fill panel between the grill and hood or having the grill meet at the hood) ........on a side note the dead center of the hood only sticks out past the headlight eyebrows 2 inches..and the lower fill/bumper panel sticks out 1 inch past the nose but i think im going to shove the bumper/filler out another 2 inches over "stock"

well i spent a good part of the day hunting for a "profile gauge" ...wanted a 15 inch but all i could find locally was a 5inch at lowes DAMNIT..you would think any autobody supply place would have it..NONE locally do...while at lowes i picked me up a set of ear muff's as ive been getting migraines EASY ..this should keep me grinding for longer periods atleast(never been able to handle ear plugs so ive always done without ear protection without issue)
going to hunt ebay and see if i cant find a 15inch that wont break the bank and that i can get in a week or less...eastwood has one that looks like a cheep POS and they want 35$ + shipping
anyway i managed to get the 5 inch to work for 1 primary alignment which let me get the drivers side hood to fender gap mostly done....well its all tacked in place and fully cut..just need to stitch it up ...the real issue is the cowl needs to be sculpted
however i need to have a chat with resto about how to get the drivers side cowl curve to match the passenger side best as possible

Isn't it Stretch's kid that is building that custom Jeep up? He had a trick to duplicate his fender flares exactly from one side to the other that might work for your cowl dilemma. Can't find the post right now though...

GREAT news today...while hunting for switches and buttons and led's at the local electrical shop i ran across a 5 led driver where they chase but fade to eachother..the store owne says" yeah those are great arnt they..the guy that makes them is in here a few times a week"
im like HE"S LOCAL?!?!?!?!?!? and got his phone#..called him and met him at his house and brought him the lloyd tail light assembly with me
he can and will make me a driver ...monday he is going to get me a price on 2 diferent styles..1 is a 5 led fade/chase so the 1 driver would drive 8 led's per side on at a time and fade and chase them about 40-60$ TOTAL for both sides
or a CUSTOM job fully scratch built and scratch programed to drive ALL 20 led's with a 4 led back fade chase ...he couldnt give me a price on it just yet but would let me know monday!!!!
im bounceing off the walls ...somehow the pieces allways fall into place when you least expect it.........i had litteraly slashed the idea of the tail light chasing for when the car was close to or finished as a last "to do"...since every lead on the subject fell thru.....this guys has the 5 led unit in hand and forsale in several stores localy.....so if the price on the 20led driver is to much i still have the 5 led system to fall back on

got the new switches into the wheel..LED lit when on(turn signals) and horn retainer in place..its all mounted to a VERY old grant adapter and old bolts......
black leather with a brushed aluminum face..the horn button is white ...with a TINY amount of trim sanding to the stock GT horn button the lloyd piece popped right in..fully functional...the switches are rocker type ...i loved the dished shoulder ring on them and the fit is TIGHT!!! and they dont hang way out the back side like most..in fact if i bend the pins over some i will be able to cap and cover them...admittedly i was looking for on/off push buttons but they all stuck WAY out the back side and the fit was generally garbage...where these are so tight i had to force them in...plus the recess on the dish means you have to deliberately flip them...they dont just opps on/off.....sure i wont have a niffty auto off when i turn a corner but so what..i dont have a stalk to get broken either

Schweet setup on the wheel. The Lloyd center really looks like it wass made for it.
