Project Fur-Kota!

Still working 6 days a week not doing much on the project. I'm getting kinda bogged down on this panel. I need to figure a way to re energize myself. sorry for the mope.
 
i know how you feel...when things don't go together like you hoped, and you just sit there spinning your wheels, it's hard to get motivated. Plus working 6 days a week is a killer too. I bitch and moan about my work schedule...lots of hours, but more days off...so I really can't complain.

Hope you find the time, and motivation.
 
Had a week off and wife told me to get my but out to the Garage, so I made some progress on the vertical section of the extensions, it's in there solid but it aint pretty. I ended up having to make a new part at the back of the section and I decided to replace a section behind the bumper near the support, my guess is it's there to catch gravel but it looked like it shoud be there so I did the best I could to put it back. Paint is now drying on these parts and hopefully tomorrow I'll be putting the floor on top of it so I can start cutting the other side out.

Found headlight solution. should I go with blue dots or clear?

These handsome devils fit the 5 3/4 headlight mounts but use modern style 9007 bulbs.
 
I was looking at the clear, but they're for a '71 Charger much different styling than your Fury. You could go either way, but the blue dots would look good.

As far as the body work undercoating would hide a lot of what you don't want seen, but it's really not all that bad. I really like the way this is turning out, and I wouldn't have even thought about putting a frame under anything, very innovative. Wish I would've seen something like this when I had my '66...

Do you have any full pics of how its sitting now? Are you planning on a lowering kit when you get the correct tires, if so how much?
 
Right now I have a set of RT front coils which would be only a 1 inch drop. For the 97-04 Dakota most front end kits use a LCA with deeper pocket for the coil but I expect I'll be picking one of my sets of springs and cutting off a turn. As for the back probably blocks but right now it's sitting on leafs with like 7-8 springs each so maybe I might just take the springs to a shop and de-arch or remove a leaf will have to see. After the trunk is buttoned up I'm going to move up to the firewall and figure how to hang pedals and booster. I think! :shrug::hmmm:
 
look a lil more at headlights they also sell "euro" style with an extra bulb in them...ive got some and love em they are only 20-30$ each and come in that same style


as for undercoating...id actualy go with rubberized bedliner instead...its stronger looks nicer cleans up easier
 
You might want to check your local laws on the headlamps. Here in MI, any blue lamp on the exterior of a vehicle is illegal unless it's a police car. Blue-tinted headlamp bulbss, anything. Even blue dots in your taillamps will get you pulled over and a ticket unless they were originally available on the car... we're talkin' pre-WWII in that case. Yes, they even pull over street rodders and such.

Of course, we have some stupid laws here in MI.
 
that is true..course some county the cops will see an old car and they are just as much of a gear head and will let it slide....others wont....

we get away with it in oregon pretty well.......atleast on pre 70s cars......truck on the other hand get NAILED for any and all of it...so yeah its hit and miss depending on how cool your cops are...DOT says its a no no nation wide...im actualy suprised me and fishy havnt been tagged for the redish pink "euro" lights in the headlights on the 67 cuda(see his sig its not a choped pic)
 
Good point on the legality of the blue dots I was trying to figure how I could do 2 w dots and 2 without dots but I don't think that could ever look right, have to be all or nothing. The plain clear ones will serve my purpose.

69.5? are the euro style ones 9007 style or H4 bulbs? and do you mean the halo style? or the secondary baklight kind (angry eyes type; usually red).

I had one cop across an intersection eyeballing me one day when I had just the pink/reds on. I forgot I had em on actually. Lights turned green and he just gave me a weird look in passing. I happened to look down and notice the light switch was half way out. Oops! :shifty: He never turned around though, and this was in Lake Grove too! :toot:
 
Here, that's not illegal either until they alternatingly flash, indicating a squad car... and they don't screw around then, due to a series of weird incidences in the late '80s in northern WI involving someone with a uniform and a Caprice decked out as a squad car. They never caught the guy as far as I know.
 
Here in Oregon, no lights other than brake/tail lights can be red. PERIOD. Absolutely no blues either. Oregon has pretty strict laws on lighting. I'm assuming that since the car is so old and being what it is, he let it slide on that alone. I imagine if he wanted to, he could have turned around, pulled me over and given me one hell of a ticket! I usually didn't have the reds on unless I was "on the prowl" so to speak. :D I either had the lights off or one click further out for regular headlights,... with a slight pink/red tinge.
 
the euros are a standard h4 but has an extra hole and bulb(standard dash bulb for late 60s mopars) availible in a varity of colors...once the headlights are on it pretty well drowns out the colored bulb

fishy...in the rear EVERYTHING can be red or white or yellow..brakes must be red..front is white or yellow only side is yellow red and white...NO OTHER color is allowed on a car PERIOD...thats pretty well DOT nation wide..obviously county/city laws have loops holes that trump or exceed dot laws
 
i "think" pilot makes them now....ill do a lil digging and see if i can figure it out...they are as good as a hella at half the cost of 1 unit..something like 25$ each
 
I found the ones I purchased on a 18 wheeler website. big rig something or other can't find right now but the maker of the bulbs for the 9007's is "United Pacific Industries" bulbs for H4's conversions are much easier to find. While searching for them I came across a website called "Blinding Lights" a clearer picture of the sole intent of 90% of the purchasers of aftermarket bulbs I'd wager.

On the quad-round setup for my '72 SE, I just used 110W aircraft landing lamps for the high beams, which are readily available in the correct size. I had to notch the headlamp buckets and upgrade the wiring, but they were way brighter than anything else available at the time, or since. Cheap, readily available, and illegal as hell (and a cop will know them instantly)... but I had hideaways, too. It's nice to be able to see road signs or deer eyes from half a mile out, particularly when you're travelling above the century mark for long stretches.
 
The place was bigrigchromeshop.com. They have arrived and they appear to be really nice. The lense is glass not plastic as I expected; they came with Sylvania 9007 bulbs in them and they have a pigtail to convert to the old sealed beam style connector. Since I thought I was just getting the lens housing I'm quite happy.
