I understand that and you're right, every bearing has a hub on the bearing flange but I've physically put OEM wheels on the vehicle myself that did not contact the center hub of the bearing flange, call me crazy but I've seen it. For the life of me I can't remember what. I just know it was a VW or and Audi.

If I remember correctly I don't think I remember seeing a Super Duty at work and the wheels were not hub centric but I never checked to see if they were OEM.
 
Well, the flip side of that is that on many of those cars, particularly with an optional wheel package, the wheels are made by an aftermarket vendor who's going to try and maximize profit dollars by making them fit more than just that application and sell them in the aftermarket. BBS, for example. If the engineers are OK with it, great. Personally, I don't really like it... but I trust that setup much more than one that not only doesn't center on the register, but uses oval holes and is dependent on relatively-thin steel washers pressuring aluminum wheels in two planes to keep the wheel straight. It's just me; I had a bad experience, what else can I say?
 
Well I have them already, I picked up another set of 4 for almost free so I'm going to try and make them work.

I have all new hardware for them and a good torque wrench and my truck shakes at anything over 70 mph (I think it's the driveshaft.) so I'll know if something is a miss and I'll keep up on checking the torque and see what happens. :)

This is also my Dakota, those jacked up F-350's with cheap aftermarket lug center wheels frighten me.

If I ever get around to getting a real set of slots for my Dakota I'd buy them but they aren't cheap. :(

I found a set of remote mirrors from a '78 Magnum XE, cheap they should be here Mon or Tues. I'll be dropping off the S/C rims to have them narrowed to a usable 9". My ex-wife's cousin is going to put my trans together for me, as soon as I get the rest of the pieces in hand. Yes, I can trust him, evidently the only person in her family that doesn't like me is her, and she's not real popular amongst her family members right now for the choices she's made since I split :D She was tolerated by most because of ME! Tell me that isn't a kick in the teeth :bwuhaha:

Trying to get as much together as possible, as quickly as possible because my expendable cash supplies are drying up quickly. Speaking of, Doc shipping quote, please!



After the trans my only major cash outlay will be the tires. And the windshield...
 
Do you want that front spoiler I have? I'll sell it to you for what I have in it + shipping. Perhaps we can send it with Jass's stuff. Unless you are planning a trip north at some point. We can take care of it then if you want. I have 2 bills in the spoiler and I have all of the hardwear too.

Got my mirrors, nice with a little fading on the chrome but definitely driver quality. Thinking about keeping the remote functional for the passenger side. Does anybody have a pic of where the passenger side remote is located in the dash?
 
Let me dig through the LeBaron album. It's to the left of the ashtray, but the '71-'74 cars never came with a RH remote. If no one's going to smoke in the car, you could theoretically hide it in the lighter hole in the ashtray.
 
thats a damned good spot for it...and the fact that its within the drivers reach too...atleast its not like the a-body "remote" mirrors..every passenger "remote" mirror ive found has been a dummy just for the look..while the drivers side has the remote....which mirror CANT the driver reach...yeah
 
None of the muscle-era mirrors, to my knowledge, were convex on the RH side. Even adjusted properly, they were essentially useless but they looked cool. As far as I know, all were manually adjusted. I plan to use later convex mirrors on my next project, and the lighter hole seemed the best place to put the adjuster. I smoke, but I also have a Zippo. :D

That's a good spot! Didn't think about that. No, no one is going to smoke in my car.
 
Ashtrays a good idea for the remote...but what about running 12V accessories? Then you loose a nice 12V hot spot.
 
Everything I've ever needed to run in my car has been hard wired, but I suppose it would be nice for cell phones. When I still had one, though, it was on the charger every night anyhow. I actually can't see any other reason for needing one.

Trust me, with a "Smart phone" you practically need to carry a charger around with you wherever you go, depending on how much you use it. Other than that though, I don't have much use for a charging port/ cig lighter in a car either.
 
My old Galaxy S1 will survive the whole day no matter how much I use it.


You just happen to own an HTC phone, you probably already know how great they aren't. :doh:
