Let's tear down!!!

I'm sure you know Doc, or anyone else the required backspacing on a 10" wheel for the rear of my Charger?

I located another pair of Super Coupe/Magnum wheels, and I really want to run those! Since the pair I have is already widened I'm going to have the centers punched out and welded into another pair of hoops. I've seen 10" wheels on the rear of gen 3 B bodies with 295/50's and that's what I'm gunna do too! :)

I think Stretchy-Poo runs 8" rims out back on that tire size with no clearance issues. If I had to venture a guess, I'd go with 5½", on a 10" wheel, but I'll do some digging through my pics of Stretch's car and look at the spring clearance. His may be 10" wide, but I don't think they are.

Of course, you're in Texas so we have to alter the song lyrics to fit:

"Oh, no! There goes dosey-doh... Go, go GodBilla! Yeah!"

He's telling me that these wheels are only 7" wide, I've seen the pics, they don't have the dimples for the hub caps like the cop rims have. He said they're from a Magnum, it doesn't matter I'm still getting them, just wanted to see if anyone else had seen or heard of the 7" versions. I'm getting the ones I have narrowed to 9" wide for the rear and having them all powder coated as close to Argent silver as possible.

Oh, DCF he is also selling me center caps, the same style as the ones I sold you with the wheels. Once I have them in my possession I'll send you some pics if you're interested.

Yes, please do.

I'm going to work those rims into shape over the winter while the NewPorker slumbers.

Mine are 8" wide front and rear. I dont remember what the back spacing is but I can measure them for you. The back spacing is also the same in the front. I run 235-60 R15's up front and 295-60-R15's out back. I have no clearance issues at all.

I was just reading through DD2's Dart build again, and saw he ordered wheel shells through Speedway, so I checked and they have 8"ers :) That just leads me to another problem... I don't have the equipment to redo mine :( this sucks!

Send 'em to someone like Stockton Wheel. They can provide the shells and make sure they're straight and round. Well worth it, in my opinion.

Stretch's tires are 295/50R-15, not 60 series. If he gets you the measurement, you could add ½" to the backspacing and the same amount to the front. Clearance is not an issue with that size tire on a '71-'74 B-body (the Plymouth actually has even more tire clearance to the outside.

I emailed someone here locally, they haven't gotten back to me. I was hoping to do that, and have all 4 powder coated at the same time.

4.5" backspacing? Umm...

I should have the fronts next week :) 7" Magnum XE wheels.

Actually, I think Stretch's wheels are 4¾" backspacing, and he's got plenty of clearance with a stock suspension. OEM 15"x7" wheels, if memory serves, are 4¼" so you'd be looking at 5"-5¼" which is probably still plenty with that size tire and even a stock spring location. In fact, the 5¼" would work even better with a C-car axle, as it's slightly wider than a non-wagon '71 B-car axle. Trust me, there's a lot of room back there.
