Bondo, oh Bondo, wherefore art thou Bondo?

ive made several of those 5x7? twin speaker replacements like that..the sound you get out of it is AMAZING

with the new guages you should think about going with LED lights for everything else in the interior....ESPECIELY that shift/column light

ohhhh yea, i'm definitely thinking of doing the remainder of the interior in LEDs...but I need to do soooo much more first ;) And I'm totally looking forward to hearing the speakers. I tried to grab some decent 6x9's so that I could get a touch more bass out of it than without good ones.

a good deep hard wall core with a rubber not foam outer will give you the bass....sony explodes work rather well

led's are CHEEP..

I thought the rear-speaker openings in those cars were 5"x7" or 6"x8"... then again, I've never owned one, so I don't know. I know that several speaker manufacturers used to make dual-pattern speakers to fit both openings, but they won't seal in a 6"x9" opening.

Well, crap. If they're not 6x9 I will be surprised. TBH, I'm so accustomed to seeing 6x9's that I just looked at it and said "meh, that'll work" hahah you've got me wondering!

You might be able to bottom mount the speakers.

I did that in my 73 Charger with 6x9s.
It's a PITA, but it works.

I did a little more research and I should be able to rock those 6x9's afterall...whew. Had me worried for a moment. Working on getting the remainder of the gauges calibrated this weekend so I will be cruisin on sunday :)

Several companies still make the dual-pattern 5x7/6x8 speakers. I have a brand new set in the box in my spare room... well, they've never been out of the box, but I've had them for about 6 years now. :-D As I recall, the '68-'74 B-cars have one 6x9 hole and one 5x7. One was actually for rear-defog-equipped cars as an intake from the interior. They were never available with dual rear speakers.

I have the rear defogger motor and I have the switch and wiring in a different place, missing at the moment, but I do have it somewhere in the house.

By the way, if you bottom-mount 6x9s through smaller holes, the speakers' surrounds will likely hit the metal package tray and muddy the sound due to restricted cone movement.

The speakers ought to be here in a day or so...I will find out about the fitment once I get a couple minutes to check :)

of which i have 2 of..one i "think" iso ut of a b or c body..the other one eledgadly was from an A but it looks EXACTLY the same...id probably have to dig a bit but ive got the switches for them too

Almost time to start playing again! Dont get too excited :D Future works are new striker pin panels (not from a donor car), stereo and heater finally get installed, I need to find some damned missing window trim, get some peak dash pieces powdercoated and installed, wireless door opening dealio, maybe start some body work, definitely get more fresh weather stripping on, new front corner windows and more more more. ...ah, and I'm still shopping around for more RB and 4 speed swap parts. Mmmm

ihave a mess of 4spd stuff....

What? lol I need damned near everything. A body pedals, preferably w/the HD spring and reinforcement (I think they were 67-71 models that offered it?), shift linkage, tabs, transmission in usable condition (looking for an OD unit, but not being too picky right now so long as it has the A body mounting position), big block bell housing, shift handle for A or B body...might you have anything there? Oooohhhh maannnnn

ive got a shelf full of enuf parts to build a handfull of 4spds..and a STACK of bellhouses....as i recall theres 2-3 of every shaft length and tail house too...

as for pedal assy and stuff..i "think" but ill have to look for those
