That's not really the case any longer. Even the classic "squarebacks" have usually been through the reman bin enough times that the marking is no longer relevant. I've seen a number of 63/65A remans in a 37A case, for example. The outer cases can be swapped William Dash Nilly with regards to their internals, which is exactly what happens at a remanufacturer. All the similar cases get thrown into one bin after the windings have been removed.Most alts have the amp rating stamped on them somewhere, at least they "used to" :doubt:
