Cutting coils is not a good idea from a alignment stand point. You loose suspension travel. You also mess with camber/ caster/ toe / and Ackermen angle. Bump steer from the tie rod angle change is the biggest issue. The second biggest issue is the lack of camber/caster adjustment do to the ride height change. Proper drop spindles or control arms eliminate ALL of these issues! Money well spent in my book!

Thanks Stretch and 69.5 I've seen the LCA and rear block kits for less than 500US I should be able to find that before I am on the road.

So this is the end of my shutdown break and here is what I've accomplished. I cleaned up the firewall and primed and gave it a thin coat of paint I still want to go back and put another layer over it, (tremclad recreational white is a good match for my vintage white.

I have also had a look at the heater box and the vacuum controls from the truck I think I will be able to get the cans to open and close the doors using the dak dash controls I found a schematic for the vacuum lines in my dakota FSM.

I also tried fitting the dash harness in the fury and had a look at which switch gear I could re-use, turns out most of it. The wipers highbeams hazards and signals are all in one nice little box that needs only one thing from the column a canceling signal from the wheel for the signal release, by cutting the column back almost to the bearing holder for the shaft, I got the cancel to work using the fury wheel and canceling pin, sadly right now it doesn't look very nice. The only thing left in the column from the fury is the horn ring and switch contact ring. Frankly it looks a little roadkill but it works perfectly zip ties and all! :-/

I also fabbed up a plate to mount the Dakota wiper motor it looks like it is going to work but the arm from the gearbox needs to go further into the cowl area I have my pro welder guy working on that little mod. once I have the arm fitted back on the box I need to get the electronics hooked back up to ensure the motor is parked then I can fab the primary link from the motor to the DS wiper pivot.

Still here still working away, got under the car cleaned up and made the kids help me paint, this summer. also took the rear back out to put the e brake cables in. before I did that took some pictures with the fender sitting on the front just to see.

I'm glad to see you are still after this as well. For some reason I thought you were using the entire dakota frame but the picture just above this post looks like you are doing it subframe style. I like that idea much better. Nice work.

I had a buddy cut the Dakota frame just behind the trans x-member,it fit really well, he also had to re-weld the perches on the 9 1/4 from the truck; but yeah its subframe style with all the Dakota stuff. Gotta get off my duff and get back at 'er.

Hey all, no photos but a little update on progress such as it is. I have been messing with the fuel pump arrangement and I think I have it sorted, I also bought some shocks and plumbed the brake line on the rear end have to hook up flex line to the rear end and start running the line forward to the firewall. Also start putting the pedal box and column back in. I hope your projects are all doing great.

I am still around, I have been distracted buy the Dart for the last few years. The Dart is now on the road and insured running a fi-tech 600 which is fun. In the meantime my garage has been invaded by bikes and non car stuff and worst of all Squirrels. I have not forgotten and I will endure I may not be fast I may not be good, but I will not allow myself to give up.
