Picked up a new toy...

Well, I will be Friday. I've spoken to Doc about it, I've just been waiting to reveal it here til I made the deal, and I did today.

Here she is...

In all her, uh, glory... a 1969 New Yorker wagoon! Complete with a 440, power windows, locks, leather (I'm told) seats, haven't seen them yet, the back SEATS are folded down, yep she's a 9 passenger! And rear air, not sure what else yet. I'll be posting more details and pics when I get her home, but the gentleman that owns her said she was regularly driven up til a year or so ago. So I'm hoping a tune up and maintenance items will get me on the road in an old Mopar real soon! He did tell me that he used Mobil 1 for his oil changes for more than 10 years, so hopefully that kept everything from getting all gummed up internally, forgot to mention that Doc.

Keeping the patina for now, though a rattle can satin black paint job has crossed my mind. I'm also going to need the rear plastics, Doc, you said something about some green pieces? Color is not important, right now anyway.
Anyway, enjoy!

As far as the Charger goes, it is going to need a lot more work to get on the road, so I'm back burnering that until a full blown restification can be performed.

Cool!

I hope it works out as planned. It's good to see another wagoon alive and kicking.

Yeah, there's a double-green '69 Polara 9-passenger wagon a few miles from here. If I can get out there and the owner's not in one of his moods, I should be able to get some pictures of the interior, which I recall as being complete and in decent shape. BMWs like that (Big Mopar Wagons) are getting to be hard to find around here; I'm trying to recall if there were any in our favorite yard but I really don't recall. Due to my health there's no way I'll be able to check it out this year. I'll dig through my other PC and see if I can find any yarding pictures with wagons in the background.

Nice!
I'd love me one of those big old wagons.

That's a '72 front clip on it - is it a '72 or was the nose changed at one time?

Maybe it is a '72, I'm not really familiar with the barges. I was going on his word, but he's up there in years, so... either way it's mine! :D I'll have the title Friday so I can verify.

Hell Yeah...another C-barge wagon!!

Only parked a year or so...should fire right up. My 71 Chrysler 300 parts car had sat for 10+ years. Dumped some gas in the tank, fresh battery...WD40 down the carb and she fired up after about a dozen cranks.

I talked to one of my demo-derby friends, and he reminded me that the green one nearby has the cargo area loaded with starters, alternators, a family of 23 illegal immigrants, radiators, and miscellaneous stuff piled in the back of it, almost to the windows now I guess. He brought up a good point: "Do you really want to unload all that from the back of the car, only to find out they're broken off at the bottom?"

He runs across a lot of wagons in his quest for suitable derby cars, though, and will keep his eyes open for you. It's almost like he's got a freakin' network of people watching out for them.

She's home! Not unloaded yet, cuz I'm tired and my foot hurts, some pics...

Couple minor issues with the body, here's one

Another, and the only spot of cancerous rust I've found, it's behind the rear passenger door

Here's the last issue, body anyway.

I forgot the front valance, it's mashed! You can kinda not see the middle here.

And the gate!

That spot behind the pass door looks like a crack in the factory body seam. :hmmm: You may need to do some structural repair.

Looks good. Remove that front valance and start smashing it back into shape...rubber mallet and a bag of sand can do wonders. Love the two way tailgates these fusey wagons have!!

I'll get my grinder with the vicious sandpaper out and get to work on that.

TC that's what 69.5 told me to do on the Charger valance, I'll get to that once she's moving on her own.

Thanks Resto, I thought so too. :)
