Picked up a new toy...

...which means more green you can put toward your actual project--you know, the one of which you have a huge tattoo on your left arm!

I can get the whale done on my right :D

I just want to have her road ready, and broken in by Carlisle next year. Wonder if I can find a good used Class III hitch locally. U-Haul sells one, almost $300 though...

You know what would look cool and be unique on this car? Grafting on a set of hood bulges w/turn signals from a '71 Sport Fury, already punched for factory "440" emblems. Now, if I just knew a fella that had such a pair of bulges, lying around, that he cut out of a hood years ago... [smilie=i:

:shifty: :D

:D

I actually thought about a set of 69.5 M-code 'Cuda scoops. But uh, that center bulge in the stock hood, especially how it widens in the rear, kinda throws a monkey wrench in the works  However if, lets say, a '70-71 hood would line up at the bumper I'd be willing to give just about anything, scoop/bulge related, a shot. :2thumbs:

I was just thinking, 1972 body lines are slightly different than the previous models, but '72 Chrysler stable mates should be the same, right? '72 Newport has a relatively flat hood, with just a center "peak". Since there are no bolt in or easily modified hideaway headlight setups for the '72, I'd swap to these '71 'Cuda-esque grilles.

dont you dare go using a set of cuda scoops on that id have to strangle you..i hunted for those forever and had to eventualy give up....the buldges from a fury would suit the car better anyhow

I know a guy with a set of original M-code 'Cuda scoops. Unfortunately I don't think he'll let them go, even though he doesn't own an A-body of any kind. He picked them up at a swap meet in either Iola or Jefferson WI for next to nothing (I think it was $40), because no one knew what they were other than "Mopar scoops". He showed them to me as soon as he got back to town, just to ask me if I knew. I knew instantly what they were. If I had to guess, I would say he's had them about 20 years now, with no signs of willingness to sell. He's a hoarder and has no need for the money, so they've never been for sale.

That's right, I thought those were being repopped, its the '67 GTX scoops that I was thinking of.

The Fury bulges would look pretty cool though :hmmm:

The '69-'70 Super Bee/Coronet R/T Ramcharger scoops are the same as the '70-up A-body. They're reproduced in a couple different versions. The '67 GTX scoops are available as well. I was going to convince Wayne to let me borrow his M-code scoops to have them repopped way back in 1997, but Year One was not interested in doing it. "Not enough interest" was the main reason, because of the few M-code cars built, I believe less than half had the scoops. Yes, they were optional (or at least could be deleted). The other problem was how to go about it. With a car that rare, they had to be 100% right and making a new mold for pot metal where the original dimensions are retained is quite a bit trickier than it sounds, especially when you don't know the "alloy" for lack of a better term.

There's not many pairs of those 440 'Cuda scoops left. I would not be surprised if Wayne were to turn down $1,000 cash for his. The only other pair I've seen in person that weren't on the right car were a pair I saw many years bolted to the quarter panels of a Duster as "brake scoops". I wanted to grab a Sawzall and free them from such a hideous fate. That was so long ago, I had film pictures of the car... I want to say it was the late '80s.

ive seen them on 340, 383, 440 cars over the years as those were the main cuda packages.....i think ive seen 6 pairs in total..honestly id want them repoped from glass not that pot metal stuff..theres a paticular 340 car ive run my hands over those scoops many many times over the years....its up at wildcat

whatcha thinkin with the 67/8 hood?..god knowns ive got stacks of those and the insertts...and yes those inserts DID make it onto some 68s from the factory

I'm just messin' with 71ChargerR/T. :D That hood is one of my lawn ornaments. It came from that '67 Slant 6 notchback I had for a while. After I sold the car, none of the good shit got pulled. The only thing missing was the hood. Perfectly-usable Rallye dash w/Performance Indicator, clutch pedals, etc. Morons.

Morons...

I had a couple of those hoods and a few sets of each of the base vents from both years, no 340 or 383 stuff. Those bulges would be OK, but I like the other options better.

I might be able to get my grubby paws on a set of those scoops, I have a call in to a friend who has friend with a pair in decent shape so... we'll see how it shakes out.
