Pic of the day.

The mighty Mississippi. Shot taken at 60 mph, on a bike. ;)

Hwy 35 south of LaCrosse WI, you'd hafta go 700 miles in any direction to find comparable scenery.
I've ridden that route many times, still my favorite. If you ever get there be sure to stop at the Swing Inn bar in Ferryville for a 1/3 lb angus burger.

A Maiden voyage 42 years in the making. My dad laid up the keel in 69 when my 42 year old sister was crawling around the backyard in diapers. Suddenly family, work, life holds up your dreams you know the drill. He's been retired for 2 years. This is a great day!

That must have been a real feeling of acomplishment.

Nothing feels better than finally finishing something that's been left on the back burner for a long time....no matter what it is.

Cool pics there Nodda.

Yeah there is ALOT of prairie untouched by man up in that neck of the woods.

Heck your only half an hour from solid forest up there.

Here's mine. A younger me and one of my creations. :D

that is one hell of an rc boat..love to know the details..scale etc

It's a semi-scale boat based on a Moran, NY Harbour tug The plans were purchased out of RCModeler magazine. He leant them to someone he knew through the local hobby store in the late 70's and lost touch with the guy after the hobby store closed down. It took till the mid 90's to track down a new set. I think it's around 36" long, the main motor is a huge aileron actuator motor out of a DC9! He says the power is fantastic we'll have to see how well it pushes our tin 12' fishing boat around.

Edit: found the plans "Lazy Alan" 47.5" by 13.5" Beam.

Looks like some of the old back roads that are in the 'hood where I grew up. We were between 12 and 15 or so and used to blast Honda 50s, 90s and one year I stepped up and got a written off Benly 150 (for the princely sum of $35) on those roads. I think we were the only ones to use them (never seen anyone else) but for hunting season. Lots of terrific memories from those days.

Same trail system, one of the smaller "wet" areas...was to busy keeping the bike upright to snap any pics of the big holes. ;)

Was going to head out there again this weekend but the trails are closed due to this weeks floods. :(

Highland Village Museum, Iona, Cape Breton.
Over looking the Bras D'Or Lakes, this is one gorgeous view no matter which direction you're facing.
My mother's people had all settled here in the 1800s, direct from the Isle of Barra. There still some areas where you can hear the Scottish Gaelic still being spoken daily.
I spent a lot of time with my SLR trying different exposures and such, took the film to the processor and they auto-corrected everything. :( Still have the negs, so I may re-develop some.
This was with my El-Cheapo digital.

Nice J.C.

We have some beautiful country up here, but it's near impossible to get nice shots like that unless you get up in an airplane.

Another shot from Sugarloaf Marina.
I have this as my desktop background on my work PC. It leaves lots of clear-ish field for icons, but is calming. Good for meetings with middle management.
