Might be getting back one of my old cars...

I haven't contacted him yet since my initial findings with this information he may be amenable to another form of payment....he seems like a pretty decent guy and has said he would "prefer" cash but in our conversations I did not get the sense that this was set in stone.

Resto...I've tried that in the past with the big banks and they just shrugged and said I was welcome to take my business somewhere else....They just don't care!

That figures...

Another Update....Finally got the cash deal sorted out, spoke with multiple people within the National Bank organization about how to proceed, got the final confirmation from a manager at a bank in his local area that is fine with me flying in and then picking up the cash.👍

Deposit on the car has been sent, and I have booked my flights there and back towards the end of May....so the car is almost officially mine again!:bananadance:

The Coronet is officially mine again...payed for, signed and sealed! I just got back home late last night from my trip out to see the Coronet and meet the fellow who has preserved it all these years.

Wally is a super great guy, really enjoyed the two days I spent hanging out with him and talking old cars and life. He's sad to see it go but he said he couldn't be happier knowing that I'm the one getting it back.

Couple pics of Wally and myself together with the car....

The car has not changed much in all these years...

This is the pic of the odometer I took the day it left on the transport 20 years ago....93,304 miles....

This is the odometer the other day...93,629 miles...

A whopping 325 miles in 20 years!

Only deterioration I saw was the paint on the steering column is starting to flake off, one of the power windows didn't want to work, and the chrome on the console top plates has gotten a lot worse...it was in OK shape when I sold it but I had used the best pieces I could find at the time. Once it's home I'll go through the car front to back and replace all the hoses, seals, and service every system on the car to get it ready for cruising again.

I had forgotten and was actually surprised that I had only opted for 14x6 Chrome magnum 500's...I was sure I had put 15" on it, they were brand new reproduction rims back when I put them on. I like 15" rims so not sure what I'm going to do yet...just replace the old 14" Goodyear Eagle St's, or maybe look at a 15" chrome mag 500 with new tires?

ditto that 14s dont come in many flavors and all said on a big car 14s look on the sillier side, in fact 15s will likely be CHEEPER than the same 14

325miles is just amazing....may as well have simply put it in long term heated storage and forgotten about it
hell id venture a wager that the buy/sell and inflation of him having it was CHEEPER than putting it in storage LOL...150-300ish a month for 20 years......36,000 in storage fees if you managed to find a heated climate controled one for 150$ a month

Totally agree!

For what I sold it for and what I bought it back for there is no way I could have put it in any type of storage around BC for 20 years that would have been even close to the difference. ;) Heck I was paying $150 per month for my shop I had the coronet and roadrunner in 20 years ago....and prices have gone through the roof since then. That same shop space would probably be in the $300-$500 range today I bet.

Been thinking about the rims and tires and I really would like to keep the chrome magnum 500's on the car for now...and I can't really afford new rims right now since I'll be tapped pretty hard once I finally pay for transport, taxes, inspection, registration etc....probably another $10K for all that... 😳

So will probably just get some RWL 14's on those rims and plan a future purchase of some 15" rims and tires. I'll probably toss on the 15" steelies and dog dish caps off the wagon to see how I like that look.

On that anyone have a set of 1968 Dodge poverty, dog dish caps in decent shape they're willing to part with? ;)

ahhhhh those..yeah ive only ever seen em on trucks n vans LOL....i wonder if the 68 van/trucks used the same oddball?

One year only style. I have 2 sets, but 3 68's

I'm interested, but want to be sure I like the steelies and caps first. ;)

I have the 68 Chrysler caps on the wagon...exactly the same but with the 3 crowns in the center.

some cars look ok with dog dishes..strip down cars, wagons 4drs, trucks, even vans, but imo the performance cars tend to look goofy unless your runnin redline tires...and that looks been done to death
