Might be buying a Ferd...

My 86 had dual tanks with a switch you could use one or the other, didn't matter which was empty or full. The gauge would read whichever tank you were using. Factory slickness. :)

-hey fishy- --any thing you need to know about the FORD let me know. . thats all i ran for years. and i know the cross reference # from other makes so sometimes fixing it can be cheaper. i have parts all over the shop for yours.
Got a horn by chance? This one has what is commonly referred to as a "beaner horn" was the first horn the guy came across after the factory one kicked the bucket and he threw it in for kicks.

la cuca racha la cuca lacha? oh little cockroach oh little cockroach, how appropriate. :D can you tune it to dixie?

Well it's only got 3 or 4 notes and sounds more like the first few notes of Dixie...close anyways...:D

yup got horns..you pay shipping -you get them free from me.. i send you a couple of different ones buick ford . then tune them to what you want --they WILL hear you.k?:bwuhaha: took a truck in for a saftey check once and he asked me why i had horns on the hood. ( steer horns). i told him they didn,t work and he said the book says you have to have horns and passed the truck.. we both laughed . i did wire up the other one later but it was nice to have a mech. with humor also it helps if you know him. ---so how many do you want.-----------------ORVIL

we used to stuff socks in the horns. makes for kind of a nasal mmmmmm instead of HONK!

a friendly greeting instead of "GET THE FORK OUT OF MY WAY ASSHOLE!"

Picking it up tomorrow!!:giggedy::giggedy: I think I forgot to mention that the doors sag a bit (not much) when they open. The seller has been getting in thru the passenger side but that door is starting to sag a bit as well. Hinges hard to replace? I know door alignment is kind of a pain but I'll be using the help of my friend with the race shop. Assuming I have to pull the fenders? I took a good hard look at the truck when I first talked to the guy and that's the only issue this truck has. Will take some pics of it as soon as I can get O.C. to bring her camera back over. Never thought I'd be so excited to be getting a Ford. :bwuhaha:

I just recently did a pair on a Crown Victoria (obviously not the same as a truck but I'll relate my story anyway). Whoever the designer(s) at Ford is should have his head kicked further up his ass. There isn't pins and bushings available so both hinges needed to be replaced. Not only is that more expensive but more time-consuming. What SHOULD'VE been an hour job turned into several hours and the involvement of three people. The bottom hinge was a cake walk but the top hinge was up behind the dash. You'd think that taking a couple dash components out would net you easy access to that top hinge but I forgot for a second that I was working on a Ford. Fishing an arm up past all the underdash crap and sharp metal that is the back of the dash finally gets you to that top hinge. Oh....and hinges are only available from Ford. Enjoy!

Don't tell me that!:doh:Well on the bright side there are plenny O' F-one fitties sitting in junk yards up here. :toot:A few of em still in half way decent shape too. :)

psssttt hey Orvil, got any hinges laying around by chance?:shifty::helpme:

Oppps I forgot about this until you mentioned it, but the foot wells have been know to rot and that can let the door sag. Might want to take a peek under there before you throw hinges at it.

Thanks for the tip A12. :bravo: Hoping that's not the case but it is a 90 and with winters like they are up here... :helpme:

The important thing and only thing that really matters is it runs great and has heat! :giggedy::giggedy: Not really planning on hanging on to it for more then a couple years or so, so I'm not really too worried about the body but would be nice to have the doors work properly. Like I said my friend with the race shop can help me with a bunch of stuff such as welding and all that. :)

well lets hope the hinges arnt welded on like they are on the mudstains...there next to imposible to fix

Used ones could be just as bad. And if they're difficult to get out, may as well pay a few extra bucks to get news ones. You'll have twice the time invested into removing and installing used ones. Also, when you get the chance, check the latch and pin. If the door has been sagging for any period of time, both of those items might have suffered some abuse.

the door hinges for that year F-150 started life as Fairmont door hinges. The Fairmont upper hinges became the F-150 lower hinges, and L/L Fairmont hinge became the R/U F-150 hinge, etc. This confuses the shit out of rookie Ford parts guys because the Ford basic part numbers don't jive. IE, they look up a left upper hinge, but the part number "says" it's a right lower hinge. And, of course, it's stamped "R" even thou it fits on the left. And the 79-93 Mustang hinges are weld on, but the F-150/Fairmont are bolt-ons.

Well I got the truck! Thing runs like a beast and drives pretty well. Guy showed me the door sag prob in further detail. It's just the hinge pins so I'm at least lucky on that. :giggedy: Monday I should get the insurance and tags swapped from the Jeep to the Ford. Come spring I'm gonna be doing some work to the Jeep with all the little minor issues it has. Kinda thinking just keeping the Ford as my driver for now and having the Jeep as a trail rig/ play toy. Dunno yet. Will see what happens come summer. :xl:
