Might be buying a Ferd...

The Jeep needs alot of work (still) so I'm gonna hopefully get this F-150 for $400 and either keep it as a back up rig or park the Jeep and work on it and drive the Ferd. Thinking the latter. Jeep needs new exhaust, tune up, rear wiper motor and front wiper trans assembly swapped out for the new one I have, engine still runs strong but has a quart a week oil leak and close just over 320,000 Km's on it....I'm sure it's getting tired. Oh and the heater don't work. Been to cold/busy to really tear into it and find out what's wrong with it. The F150 according to the guy runs like a scalded dog and the heater will run you out of the truck! Body is a little worse for wear but as long as it runs I could care less what the body looks like!

Okay, the fire jokes good but I've had a few f150's and they were all good trucks, usually less problems than my dodges. Easy to get parts, pretty easy fixin'. Gas pigs though.

What year fishlet?

Don't quite know...judging by my friends F150 I'm gonna guess 88 or so. And as far as the heater catching fire...I hope not! :D Would be good to have a functional heater again though :)

That means the heater catches fire.

That's funny stuff right there. :D

2wd or 4wd ? Year? Engine? F-150's keep our shop busy, mostly for worn suspension/steering componant's. The late eightys to mid 90's models have had problems with oil pans rotting through in northern climates. Look closely at the pan as it's a bit of a pain to change....

Thats true, the fronts end aren't real user friendly. I've been driving my 89 300/6 4x for the last month, the streets been too rutted to get the car out.

nasty front ends the lot of em..and pan rot on em is not all that uncommon...not sure what they made em out of but its thin junk...and if its a 302 god forbid the heads have ever been off.....those bastards love to have head gasket problems

Hey I made a good living down in Tx workin on Ford front ends...and anything with a Blowtie too for that matter. I do like that style F150 though, I had and want another F350 crew cab from that era

Well I finally got a hold of the guy selling it. Knocked on the door and asked him about the truck. He said he was no longer selling it, just hadn't had enough calls on it. Said he was gonna run it the rest of the winter to do his ice fishing and such. He showed me the truck anyways and gotta say I liked what I saw!! 1990 2WD, inline 6, think he said it was 300cid..., auto on the column, ran a bit rough at first but he hadn't started it in about a month but once it warmed up it purred!! Told him too bad he wasn't selling it cause he had a guaranteed sale. He pulled the sign out of the window, said he'd pull it around back and see me when my taxes came in!! :giggedy: Really cool guy!! Selling it to me with 5 spares, yes 5!! :D Just had em lying around and figured the best way to get rid of em was to sell them with the truck...yay for me!! Entire front suspension is fairly new, new U-joints and drive line, just had an alignment before he parked it. Said nothing was wrong with it he just wanted to make sure he sold it with good parts on it as the old ones were all original and in kinda rough shape. So once I get this Ford, the Jeep gets parked till summer. Gonna get the wipers, CV shaft and u joints fixed up, take it off road a few more times then rip it apart and who knows...I just may start my own progress thread...not that you guys wanna read about a boring ass Jeep Grand Cherokee.....:shifty: :D

-hey fishy- --any thing you need to know about the FORD let me know. . thats all i ran for years. and i know the cross reference # from other makes so sometimes fixing it can be cheaper. i have parts all over the shop for yours. and you got 5 spares? i would be tubing them. this way you don,t have to fix them twice. to bad you didn,t live here that would look good when we were done. like i said i,ve got stuff for that truck. and i pulled alot of dodges out with them:dance: ......after thot--am i going to get it now---:bwuhaha: yours truly ORVIL:bwuhaha: :bwuhaha:
