Let's tear down!!!

Not really... he can't ship beer across the border legally. :D I still have a hankerin' for a good club sandwich anyhow.

Cool, I'm robbing them from the car when I go up to jersey this Christmas! I have the bar from the 77 Doba so I'm good there. If that won't work I can find another, the bars come up all over, brackets are harder to locate.

Which brackets are you robbing? The frame brackets are pretty-much universal. I think the lower shock/spring plates were, too, at least between B/E-body cars, but they did change the bar over the years. The problem you run into are the links; the factory setup sucks and is essentially non-serviceable. There are ways around this, of course.

I have the frame, I'm getting the leaf spring brackets from a Challenger. That car is really screwed, it has 3 different VIN's on the body and another dash #. It was given to a friend of mine, when he saw that he just parted the car because he didn't want to deal with that shit. The problem is it has a 7 1/4 rear, and I know the 1/2' or so difference but I can get them really cheap to free so I can modify them if possible if not I'm only out a little labor.

One of my link ends is broken, I figured there was a way around it. Can you elaborate please?

Wheels on the car

Thank you!

I was waiting on lug nuts to get the wheels on there. I wanted to see how the front wheels fit with the 255/60's, I'm going to run the same size on all four wheels.

The plan is to drop the motor in this coming weekend. I'm going to lop off the manifolds and tow it to the local muffler place and have them hook up the pipes. I was going to drive it down with open headers but I'm thinking I better be able to hear the motor to break in the cam.

I can! You can use "universal" U-brackets, such as those that bolt to the frame on most swaybars, along with the proper-size bushings for your bar. Cut a couple of pieces of scrap steel plate to make "backing brackets" that will bolt to the back side of the U-brackets with short bolts and nuts. Get the appropriate-size grade-8 bolts (I think they're 5/16"), in a length similar to the original link rods and weld them to the tops of the U-brackets. You may have to use a die to get enough thread on the end for the "doughnut" bushings. Assemble it just like the factory non-serviceable setup... U-brackets, backing plates, and bushings around the bar, with the doughnut bushings through the shock plates. Both the U-brackets (if you use new ones; junkyard would work) and the bolts will probably be gold-irridite plated; you can weld through that but it wouldn't hurt to do a little grinding and fitting so it's steel-to-steel. Paint your home-made links and brackets black, and assemble.

This is essentially how Addco used to do it. It's not the prettiest thing (hence the mention of painting) but it works, and now you have serviceable bushings on both ends that are available in rubber or polyurethane. Bushing-wise, Moog's are usually blue poly where Energy's are available in black or red. Even the cheap ones we sold at Auto Value were poly (one GM C/K-series end link would give you all the doughnut bushings you need for about $6), but they were red.

I have a set from that 340 Duster I sold to Spawn for parts. The bushings too, they look like the same size bar(front on the A body). All I need to do is get some bolts. I assume the bolts I need will be close to the same length as what is there now, correct?

Found this, my buddy bumped his freaking head! Wants $250 for the bar and mounts I'll have to modify to fit :dgt:

Yeah, $250 is completely out of hand. I think I sold the one from the '72 Road Runner to beeper*71 for $25 with one broken link, but the end brackets were still there. Start a want ad in the classifieds and I'm sure any members that go yarding would start looking under Cordobas, Chargers, Magnums, etc. I know where there's probably a couple, but I have no way of getting there and it's a couple of hours away.
