Hey! There’s no easy button for a body like this!
My new place has a 30x40 pole barn with a dirt floor and a 30x32 garage with a concrete slab but no insulation and basically no power. Pretty much just a few lights and a garage door opener. All the power comes from a sub box in the barn and runs through a 15 amp switch in the garage. That just wont do so .....
I installed white steel on the ceilingFor a few reasons.
1) this is a pole barn and weight hanging from the rafters is a concern. Fire code requires 5/8" dry wall at 75# each 4x8 sheet. Add the snow load and nope! Not doing that.
2) steel is fire code.
3) I dont have to paint it!
4) steel is a shit ton lighter than the dry wall.
5) I don't have to paint it!
6) Steel goes up faster!
7) I don't have to paint it! ( I fucking hate painting)!
8) I don't have to paint it!
After the ceiling was in we blew in 75 bags of insulation giving me R30.
Next it was on to the wiring of the building and adding a box.
I also installed a Modine for heat. This weekend I will be digging a trench for tbe conduit ( i have a buddy who hooked me up)! Two runs of conduit 180 ft each. One for 2ot cable for 100 amp service and one for cad6. While the trencher ( thanks to another buddy) I'm going to cut a trench for the gas line.
After the power is done I'll finish the 8 inches of wall insulation and the steel on the walls.
