A12 - time to get busy

Should be back here in the next month or so.

Yes, the MC backing plate is painted green. Yes it will be painted black. Yes I am the SOB who will walk away from a car with that painted because it's as bad as painting the door strikers IMO.

You owe me a quarter, now you won't have enough money to finish the A12!

You'd really have to be looking for it, can't see much with the power booster! 20250728_171110.jpg20250728_171121.jpg

Was watching GYC last night and noticed they were screwing the road runner emblem on the door and there were no holes in the fenders. I had a little panic because I remembered the Belvedere fenders had holes in them and I couldn't remember if we'd talked about welding those up or not.

We're planning on inspecting it Friday, and it's supposed to be ready to come home in about 3 weeks (worker bees on vacation)

Cars coming home all over the place, maybe I should start looking for one?
With the last project done it's time to start a new one. The most important part of retirement is to keep busy. Without some goal you're losing a main reason to live.

My HO trains are all that's left, I'm just afraid of leaving a car in pieces for my kids to deal with, none are really into that kind of job?

I feel the same way about leaving a pile of junk for my kid to get rid of, and still we keep buying stuff.

I just visited it - they said 2 weeks, so I expect 4 before it's actually back here

The hood is little warped, but its 50 year old factory fiberglass so there's no surprise. They could've worked it but $$$.

It looks OK from a distance but one side is high, the other is low., and it's below the cowl in the back. Just the nature of a fiberglass hood I think. Nobody will be looking at that anyway - if it's parked at a show I'll have the hood up on prop rods.

The paint is pretty much amazing in person.

If that paint looks as good close up as it does at that distance you got yourself a show stopper there!!!
Yeah it's breathtaking (how much it cost)

I've got a $5000 interior order laid out. It's crazy. I won't need all of it, but then there's the matter of if the outside looks that good, you gotta follow through with the interior.

It will be here next week. Then the fun of figuring out how to install a headliner and all the glass starts.

The dashboard, heater box & pedals are no big deal and go in after the headliner but before the windshield.

Gina and I installed one windshield so at least that's not entirely new to me, but the headliner is totally new. I plan to look around to see if I can hire someone to come out and install it here but will probably end up having to do it myself.

I need to find out what I have to do to the back seat so it fits with the tubs, then I'll send those out to be recovered. I already have the front seat and head rest covers, still waiting on the back seat cover.

The fun begins, maybe you can wake this place up a bit, been quiet lately, I miss Jass!!!

Headliner & glass are the 2 things I had done, I watched the headliner guy, even after the lessons I had him do the 2nd car too.

Glass I removed , probably could have installed but It wasn't that expensive since I had to buy the windshield anyway.
I think I had more trouble on the side glass getting that lined up (I think I'm at least close) was a project.

Send him down LOL

I had a guy come out to put in the windshield me and Gina put in, and he had no idea what to do with a windshield gasket. He was expecting it to just sit on butyl, like newer cars (and yours) do.

Yeah I can't wait for that fun.

But I still enjoy putting them together as long as I don't have to get in a big hurry. They're kind of like big model cars.
