As long as it locks up and leaves a nice even pair of stripes on the pavement, call it whatever you like :vroom:

Got my front runners today................

just a curious question.

What is the reason for your decision to run the m/t sr tires?

just wondering for future purposes

unless i was only running on the rack and a few "light" street runs id NEVER run that skinny of a front......hell i cant stand anything but a 225 on the front of an A..anything bigger and the front end gets too heavy and you know its beating on parts..anything smaller and the front end just gets pushed out toooooo easy..225 seems to be the sweeetest spot on them

I could have saved $60 a tire and used the bias front runners like many others do, but I never mix bias with radial tires.
I looked at many different radial tires, almost bought one cheap tire that was $85 ea til I found out they were made for real small cars.
Turns out just about any tire made in that size is rated very low for speed & weight.

So why the M/T SR tire ?..... Not much else to choose from out there if you want a safe tire to protect your investment & your life

Well, not in a front-runner style of tire. Protecting investment & life is why I wouldn't run anything like that except at the track. Anything I have with a license plate on it will see highway duty, and I want more tire available to me should fast maneuvering be required.

Don't get me wrong--I understand the love of the look, and in more-densely-populated areas it's not as critical. However, where I live highway speeds are essentially unavoidable, and we're so overrun with whitetail deer that they actually allow hunting in town during bow season. Those may be speed-rated to 130MPH, but that has nothing to do with a sharp steering input to avoid Odocoileus virginianus in a curve at 70MPH.

For the record, radials provide a better ride, last longer, and won't develop permanent flat spots from sitting but bias-belted tires actually handle better. You won't find any radials at a race track (of any kind) unless the class requires them. For the rest of the world, though, it's not worth the trade-off.

Joe Pardo uses the same tires on his monster Pro Street Dart as well...........

When people use those cheap radials which are made for small cars like a VW, then your tires always look like they are low on air
Notice in the pic, even carrying the weight of a big block, the tires don't look flat

Mickey Thompson's "big and littles" [/COLOR]

Yes but they have a distinctive flame tread design, those are the same tires I have.
When I seen them on that car I went searching and found they were exactly the size I was after
However I will not be using them on the rear simply because they are rediculously priced.
Both my back tires together are cheaper than 1 of those rears

I was just checking out a bunch of online reviews for the Mickey Thompson SR tires......
Alot of the same comments;
THE GOOD - Great street tire, smooth ride, no noise, good on wet pavement, don't wear as fast as the softer drag radials

THE BAD - Not good at the track, don't hook well

I'm not using them on the rear so that won't be an issue for me

If I'm not mistaken, Nascar switched to radials a couple years ago for the better handling characteristics. Probably had more to do with Goodyear lobbying for the change, but that was the reason given...

I have also been looking at those m/t tires because i am having an issue finding a 295-50-15 tire. Debating on a little more trimming on the front side of the back fender so i can get a 28 inch tall tire and open up a few more choices or making a bigger diameter rim to keep the dog dish cap. I also like matching tire styles on front and rear so it really limits choices.

this is the only reason i ask why the choice, but your not going to run the rear tires.

I'm using the Nitto's on the rear but they have a tread much like the M/T, 28x13x15"
I've read nothing but good ratings on this tire and they are only $202.ea
I did find recently that WalMart in the U.S has these tires also, $185.ea, thats cheap !

Thats why when I relocated the springs I also moved the rearend back 1/2" so I could fit the 28" tire
I could prob get a 29" tire on it but I'm going with 28 for now

Tires + Walmart = HHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO!!!!

Ok, so Summit sells the same tire for $227, is that tire better, it must be since its the same price as a M/T Drag Radial

All I'm saying is I'm not so narrow minded to avoid 1 place from the next when they are selling the same product for much less.
I could care less if its Walmart , that don't make the tires any less desirable

Thats sounds just like my son who thinks he has the best shoes cause he paid a lil over $300 at Footlocker
I bought the exact same Nike shoes a few weeks later at the Nike outlet store for $106
I don't know, maybe his shoes jerk him off

Just for the record Fishy, I'm not taking a shot at anyone here, just stating my opinion on that topic :bravo:
