71 Dart Swinger

A-body Mini Tub project

Everything is looking good now, just need to cut the metal strips now and weld things up.
Its back togeather now, mocked up with self tappers.
I bent the lip of the frame rail straight up for flush mount, then cut about 3/8" off the fender lip.
Total clearance now is 15". When I install the spring relocation kit I plan to set the rearend back 1/2"
My current tire is 8x26/14".... Once all is finished it will house a 13.5x28/15" tire

Here's some pics where I've done so far..........

Holy moly man...that's a ton of work!! Good job so far. Not sure if I'd have the nerve to do it.

Just like christmas all over again in my garage today..........
Swapping my front 9" drums for the 11.5" Front Disc Brake set-up with large bolt conversion and tubular control arms
Swapping the rear axles for new large bolt conversion, NHRA approved street axles
Replacing the rear 9"x2" drum brakes with a new set of 10"x2.5" B-body Drum brakes

My front wheels will be here next Monday
15x4 WELD Prostar with M/T Sportsman Radial SR tires 26x6/15
Cancelled my order on my rear wheels until I install the new axles and brakes, as this will change my offset
For the rear tires I'm going with Nitto NT 555R Extreme Drag Radial 325/50-15

im suprised your going stock style rubber hoses and not braided......

I likely will get braided hoses for those front brakes.

I'm just putting the fuel system together right now with all stainless braided, very costly, and alot of waiting.... I get it all from China, same stuff as here for 1/4 the cost

The bottom of the car is all gloss black now, so the polished aluminum fuel pump and all the braided lines will really stand out.

I haven't updated the pics but the wheel tubs and spring relocate is all completed and painted now.

The rearend was stripped and painted and given a new 489 carrier with 3.55's and an Auburn Posi
Here is some more stuff I have done so far this winter.........

Oh, you said it was a Posi. The word "Posi" is short for "Positraction", which is a Chevrolet trademark. I've never owned a Posi, but I've had a number of Sure Grips, 3 Saf-T-Tracks, a few Powr-Loks and even a Trac-Lok. Even had me a spool once... but I've never owned a Chevy. :D

Oh, yeah you can... you've never had a Chevyhead say, "No, this wasn't no limited-slip... this was a 'full Posi!'?" I have, too many times to recall.

no such thing as a "full posi" unless its a spool..PERIOD..ALL of the devices are limited slip diffs by definition..tho the quaife units are sorta an exception

thats when you ask the chevy guy..so what does it do?..it lets the diff..."limit its amount of slip"..and you wtch them scramble for a good come back
