1967 dart

that is basically what i did with the rivets. 69.5cuda, but i have a feeling my adventure is a temporary thing

I do plan to fiberglass the other side of the rivets as well just to have it all sandwiched between the metal and frame.

so i finally brought home the small 340 :shifty:

So I have been away from the Internet for awhile sorting things out with life. Fiance took off so it's back to the hand.
I have been tinkering a bit with the dart. I raised the rear end up a bit because I did not like the level stance. I put some nitto drag radial on the back with 325/50/15 tires. They hook alot better on launch on the street.

I took her out on a grocery run last weekend. I got alot of compliments on her which made me feel very proud. Even some videos were taken as they were driving beside me. Probably photos as well, which makes me feel like I did something right.
I also embarrassed a ford truck that tried to pass me from a stop sign .... he got beside me and I opened her up and she walked away from the Ford truck that was giving it everything he could. He later turned around to go pick up his doors that got blown off :-) I giggled the rest of the 2 miles home :-)20160421_123426.jpg20160421_123426.jpg

id LOVE so much to see that ole girl on a set of ralley wheels

change the hood scoop to a different version, finish the paint, blackout the hood and you have a buddy of mines dart from back in HS..he totaled it street racing...somehow walked away from it and NOTHING could be salvaged..i KNOW he had ralleys on it i just cant remember if they were argent or body coloered but i remember it stood just like that..had that much rubber..and was an ANIMAL

Yeah me too.

Or vintage aftermarket wheels...

Feels good to get her out for a run tho, donnit?

Thinkin' there is not gonna be any time for me to do anything with mine this year.... :(

going on 3+ without haveing a lick of time for ANY of mine

vintage slots would also suit it....buddy had a set on his before it went from gray primer to green...

there is alot of "feel" in this dart..it came from me..i had no intention of picking it up initialy..when i finnaly did i had 1 plan..clone my buddys car..down to the gutted interior..but lets face it ive got a fish setup the same....so i gave up..let her sit and sold her...i never expected it to be damn neer the tribute car i had planed....its soooooooo close its crazy..and i never spoke a word of any of his ole dart

Well last fall I thought I grenades my transmission. So I saved my pennies and went with the passion hemi 4 sp overdrive.
After I had it all put together in the dart and was excited to go cruising. I jammed it into first and nothing!.

Turns out I blew the rear clutch type suregrip. (I believe it was nitro gear) Stripped the spline inside and broke some parts internally as well.

So I tore into the rear diff, swapped in a set of 4.30 gears from 3.55and got a Detroit trutrak limited slip. Put it all back together and went for a spin.

Holy mother of hell.!!!!! Those 4.30 gears woke up a bigger monster. You can feel the g forces in your chest. Good thing I can cruise 60 mph around 2700 rpm.

I took the girlfriends 12 yr old son for a spin in the dart cause he was all about mustangs (his dad just bought a new one) I think he crapped his pants when I took off from a rolling start and he was pinned back and was shocked he felt the launch in his chest.

I also swapped in a hydraulic clutch and added hydroboost power brakes from a 2500 ram. Now I can violently pin someone in the seat then hit the brakes and violently smash their face off the dashboard. :-D

I bet the kid doesn't think that daddies mudstain is the shiznits anymore. :bwuhaha:

I would expect a dramatic difference with your car, considering that putting 4.30s into a stock 273-2V car would damned-near have it running 13s. :D

Those 4 spd overdrives run something like a 3.06:1 first gear ratio. That put your first gear final at 3.06 x 4.30 = 13.158:1. Yowzaa, that's almost granny gear ratio. [smilie=2: RPM's come kinda quick, do they? :D

He doesn't have the 3.09 first gear. He's got a Passon gearset, which has different ratios than the factory A833OD. The factory trans is ultra-wide-ratio: 3.09, 1.68, 1.00 (actually fourth gear) and .67 or .69:1 depending on the transmission. I think the Passon gearset is 2.66:1 in first.

That being said, that ball & trunion trans I picked up at the spring swap is a close-ratio with direct fourth, but has the 3.09 first-gear ratio. It's an A-body-only, '64-'65 only (might be '66 too, I'm not sure) gearset, and the only reason I bought the transmission. Same gearset Ehrenberg's got in the Brick. It oughta be a riot off the line with the 4.10s.

2.66 first
1.59 second
It's like the stock transmission in first and second.
Well, sorta. The stock 2nd gear in the early factory 2.65-first Hemi 4-speed is 1.93, so your gearset has a large spread between 1st and 2nd in comparison. It's obviously not as significant as the 3.09-first OD's drop to 1.68 going into 2nd, but it's still a pretty wide-ratio gearbox. Second gear with the Passon gearset and 4.30s equivalates to second in a close-ratio (early) Hemi box with a 3.55 screw, so it's a fairly-significant drop. Of course, having ridden in several cars with 18-spline Hemi boxes and 3.54 Danas, it ain't exactly a bad place to land on the first shift. In fact, it's almost an identical arrangement to Stretch's early-23-spline/3.55-rear setup, which is a hoot with a stock late 340.

I believe the transmission I've got for the Challenger has almost identical gear ratios to yours, 68, as does the one in Stretch's Charger. I should pull the side cover off and check, really, since it's a '70 long-tail and could go either way. I'm up to ten 4-speeds, yet I don't think I actually own a transmission with a 2.47 first gear. :hmmm:

Sweetness! Need to see some pics of your hydroboost conversion....been thinking of doing one on the wagon as well since I love it on my crewcab.

With the hydroboost setup I don't have many pics of the internal stuff but I did have to make new periods inside and also to the peddle.
The ram has the reserve cylinder clocked in the right position so it made it easier. I just had to drill new holes in the mounting plate to match up to the darts bolt holes. I also shortened it a bit by using a 1/8 inch plate between the master cylinder and the hydroboost system. I believe it was a 1/2 inch plate before.

Dartie was sent to the body shop back in November. Last I checked on her she was resprayed in primer and had guidecoat sprayed on. He was letting the primer dry and cure before he continued.

I also had a pair of indy 360-1 Heads fall into my lap.
I had them rebuilt and ported and with flow numbers20171002_185205.jpg20171223_205126.jpg26026104_10154860478276986_9050135674324939224_o.jpg
I plan to erase the indy logos on the heads.
