1967 dart

of all the cars that have been built on this site...this is probably the only 1 i truely want to see in person.....but thats cause i remember it very well from the day i picked it up.....makes me wonder what it would look like if ida hung onto the gt hood to go with it....i made more money off the hood than i did the whole car and car load of parts i sold with it

so since the engine has been in the machine shop i decided to get some motivation to start working on the spare hood i had kicking around.

I picked up a fiberglass six pack scoop and decided to mate the two together.
I cut a hole in the top sheet steel and put the fiberglass scoop in between the hood frame and the top skin then riveted it all together.
I wanted it smoothed out so i fiberglassed it smooth then started to fill in the hollows.
i should have it in primer next week.
I am debating on adding some strenght to the underside of the thin fiberglass scoop .

If i remember i will take a few more photos tomorrow.

Voice of really-bad experience: I hope those are steel rivets, especially if you're going to paint the hood black.

It won't matter... the seam between the scoop and the steel will show up anyway. Two dis-similar materials, vibration and heat will do it every time. :(

ya that is the sad part. I debated about a full fiberglass hood but there does not seem to be anyone that make a good quality one so i stuck with steel.

Worst case i go back to the stock flat hood or stumble on to a rally hood in decent shape and in my price range

saddly..that dart came with an extra hood when i got it....the GT hood..to which i sold the next weekend for 500$

Why don't those scoops come with studs built in already...would make mounting it a lot easier I'd think?

actualy cow..you just game me an idea..if you built up the glass and sandwiched in some kneeraled studs like what youd find on skies/snowboards youd end up with something that held on and wouldnt ever show its head
