Finally Home...

Hung the rear bumper tonight gotta pull it again though, need to pull the one off of Spawn's car because he has taillights I'm, uhhh going to umm "borrow" for a bit. :D I 'm also going to take a cue(?) from the "Black Bitch" and run sans grilles as I don't have the motor assembly... that's not gonna be cheap.:doh:


I bolted the right front fender the rest of the way on, adjusted the deck lid, and passenger door, but I need to find the shim for the top hinge. Tomorrow I'll throw on the front bumper, front valance and check the brakes to find out why I don't have a pedal. Once I have brakes, a few cans of black primer, some foam and seat cover and it'll be on to locating good used gas tank, get the windshield replaced and register and insure it:vroom:


Then the fun begins... and the parts chase :dance:
 
Headlamp motors from much-later cars will work. Start your junkyard search with '78-'79 Magnums, '79-'81 New Yorkers, or '81-'83 Imperials (essentially bolt-ins). As your last hope, check out FWDers like LeBarons. Damned right you can make 'em work! Oh, and check to see if your headlamp-motor relay is still in place. It should be screwed to the bottom of the dash, just below the ashtray.
 
Noticed you got a Valucrap battery. :D I talk customers out of those on a daily basis! :D For something like this though, they're perfect. :2thumbs:
 
:D That's not even mine! I brought my dad's Chevy panel truck home to fix it, and swiped his battery :D

Yeah I won't buy one of those! I wanted an Optima, but they almost doubled the price since I first looked til now :doubt:

Most people think that those headlight motors on the later cars are different. Only thing different is maybe the wire connectors, and the orientation of the motor depending on if the headlight door flip up, or down. I used one out of a early 80's imperial on my 70 Sport fury...worked great!

FYI...I was at the wreckers yesterday and there was a FWD lebaron with hideaways...if you can't find one locally I can always grab that one and send it down your way. PM me if interested.

She's coming along....keep it up!

I pulled the gas tank out of Spawn's car. It's pretty banged up, and there was about 4-5 gallons of some really rancid fuel in it with no leaks on the bottom, but there is a hole the size of a pinhead on top. Would JB Weld work? Or?

Tomorrow I'm picking up a petcock for the radiator, checking the brakes (M/C was dry), installing the gas tank and pulling the gauges to clean them up.

So far I have the bumpers, tail lights and the front valance (which is all twisted up) installed, I'll post up some pics tomorrow.

It comes from the same place as any other battery: New Castle, Deka/East Penn, or Johnson Controls. 99.9% of the car batteries in this country originate from those three companies, including Optima and TurboStart. The batteries made for chain stores such as Wal-Mart, Advance, O'Reilly's and AutoZone are the lowest-quality batteries available because price is everything. They're betting on customers losing their receipts, and if they do, not understanding battery date codes. Wal-Mart used to always put your battery receipt in a plastic envelope on the side of the battery itself, guaranteed to fade out long before the replacement warranty had arrived, much less the prorate warranty. No receipt, no warranty. I've never seen a "punched" battery from a discount chain even though every battery I've seen has a punch label.
 
so long as the jb weld isnt being "soaked" in fuel it can last you a good couple years actualy......being soaked in fuel on the other hand youd be lucky to get 6 months out of it...and i do mean LUCK...alot of it has to do with propper metal prep..i had a small pinhole in my 67 tank on the bottom..i was young and dumb but that jb patch job stayed for almost a year before it was leaking again.....yet the patch job on my quad tank wouldnt hold for more than a month
 
Went yarding today and hit 3 total, first was dead, nodda damn thing!

2nd yard had an 87 5th Ave, not much else, but I did see some dual electric fans I think would work. They're on a 300M, and they were nice flush mount about 26" wide. :2thumbs:

3rd was decent, overall not much Mopar related, BUT they did have an '85 5th Ave with a nice set of 15X6.5 or 7(?) steelies, and a 90ish LeBaron vert with a headlight door motor :giggedy: so I grabbed it and cut the harness far enough back to wire it up.

I'm apparently missing more headlight door bits and pieces :( So I'm going to put the standard grilles in for now... I just can't not do it. I have them might as well use them.


I have to find some yards outside the metroplex to hit. Seems these guys crush most stuff older than mid 80's at least in the Mopar section!

Those old Y-block ford crossover pipes were some weird shit. Went from the front of one manifold to the front of the other. :doh:
 
yeah its weird exhayst but kept everything under a rig simpler

as far as fans go....go look thru the imports...and even better the euro stuff being MUCH higher quality

I did see an early 90's 300E with a dual pusher fan setup, maybe I'll check that one out.
 
youd be suprised at what you can find in the imports.....id tell you to go find a turbo porsche unit but they are pretty hard to find..but that is a goto hell dual fan thats THIN
 
Luckily I have plenty of room.

I also need a setup for my truck, I hear the load that thing adds when it engages. I was looking at a Windstar dual fan setup for it. The fuel I save should cover the cost of it in a couple weeks.
