I went ahead and purchased the 8.8 accel 300+ wires today. They seem like they are put together well. It has been a while since I did a cut to fit but instead of being an annoyance like it used to be, I will end up with a better fit and will not be stuck running the wires a certain way. Now all I need is a good 6AL to light the fires :rolleyes: Oh well, I guess I will just have to stick with the old mopar perf. electronic ignition for now. Now on to the question, is the chrome or gold box worth the coin? or should I just save the dimes for a good ignition? Can you tell I just added the question on the end of this thread? :shifty:
 
I'd probably stick with the MP ignition (if you have it) or the stocker until you can swing the 6AL or similar (I know a couple of guys who've been very happy with the Crane HI-6 as well).

The MP chrome box is a nice piece, but it doesn't have the technology of the newer stuff; the gold box won't last very long in street use as it runs very hot and will actually burn itself up... sort of a short-burst, high-RPM-only piece.

Don't skimp on the coil, either. I've had very good luck with MSD's various Blasters, as well as the Crane PS91 and PS92. I prefer the e-core style of coils... no oil to leak out, and they seem more resistant to heat and abuse. Several friends have had good luck with Mallory coils though I've never used one personally.

My recommendation for anything made by Accel stops at the 300+ wires... I've never had good luck with anything else they make. :huh:
 
6-AL all the way..tooo hell with the stock stuff :p
as for coil ive had extreamly great luck with MSD's blaster SS composite coil ..tuff as nails resistant to damn neer everything and ive got one with well over 60kmiles with only one glitch that it got hit with something and cracked neer the ground connector makeing it spark out to that connector...a lil JB weld and its gone another 10k miles with no issues
