I expect many will guess the title of the song that these lyrics come from, and if you can do that, you'll have some guesses as to who performed it, but who wrote the song?

"Living on the road my friend
Was gonna keep you free and clean
Now you wear your skin like iron
Your breath's as hard as kerosene"

Well, Willie and Merle sang it, and I thought Willie wrote it, but I could be wrong (its happened once or twice before).

oops, just looked it up. Wrong again dammit!
Never heard of the guy, but its a great tune.

Well, Willie and Merle sang it,

That they did but neither of them wrote it.

Many in the country/folk/folk rock genre consider this guy to be the best song writer ever. He'd write a poem every day. Any song he wrote had to work as a poem on paper before he'd set it to music.
