I want a quiet truck. It was nice riding in my dad's 6.0 the other day, all you hear is turbo.
 
How many sets of headgaskets has it eaten yet? I'm not trying to be funny, they're that bad overall.
 
None, it's got 120K, still has original EGR and all. That is the BEST running 6.0 I've ever seen! It's the ONE that was done right. :D

My dad runs the balls off of it too, which helps from what I've heard.
 
Is the 6.0L a stick or an auto? My buddy has a 6.o on there farm. Never done any head work or EGR work and it gets the shit worked out of it! It's a stick shift. I think that helps. The ford dealer told them to "Spin the tits off of it!" They need that! And NEVER EVER use synthetic oil in them.
 
Auto, like I said my dad runs that truck. Only issue he's ever had was an oil leak at the back of the motor at some block off plate. Dealer fixed it under the extended warranty, if it wasn't for the warranty he wouldn't have touched it, it wasn't that serious of a leak. They had to lift the cab off the frame to access it.



On mine I'm back to 15W40 Rotella and a Motorcraft filter, only did the 5W40 Rotella 2 oil changes, about 15-16K miles between the 2 changes. I HATE this truck at this point, I've considered blowing it up, but I don't want to risk injury.

Is it sad that that is my ONLY reason it doesn't get a gas bath?
 
My Ford. About this time last year I had a no start issue, that one turned out to be a fuse box.

I'm going to get my Dodge this year, I've already made up my mind. I found a nice dually, wife says no duallys because she about cried when we paid almost a grand for 4 tires. I've found its easier to ask for forgiveness than permission :D

As soon as I get it running its on, or is it gone...
 
With the cost of tires now, You will be paying about a grand for 4 tires. $1200.00 and up for 6.
 
I paid $980 for 4 last year, I figured with the 17's we'll be in the neighborhood of $1700 for 6. I try to get the best I can find, and I get the road hazard warranty too. Yes, I do need it...
 
Thanks for the reminder about tires. I just looked, and General discontinued the fronts I wanted for my wheels. :doh: I already have the rears, thank God, because those are gone too.
 
My POS is heading to the stealership tomorrow. I don't even think about what they are bone me on this one... :dgt:

Don't get that one. It has that weird, little-ordered cummings engine. It's similar to the cummins, but parts are much harder to find.
 
Cummings is a common misspelling for cummins. Same thing, in other words. I was simply making fun of the fact that the owner made that classic spelling mistake.

Well the Ford is getting fixed, has a weak fuel pump and a partially block line. Its getting an alignment while it's in there, I'm tried of looking at a steering wheel pointing at 2 o'clock driving straight down the road. No tire pull, and the tires are wearing as even as possible for a SD, or any Ford for that matter.

Now's the time to sell it, while its still running good...
 
Every time someone referred to a Cummins as a "Cummings" when I was working, I thougt, "Oh, one of those Mexican jobs." I used to drive my Spanish teacher, Mr. Cummings, crazy when I would prounounce an obviously-English word (like hospital), in my normal, non-inflected voice mid-sentence. He absolutely hated that... in fact, he failed me for it.
 
I evidently misunderstood. They replaced the PICKUP and line, they did NOT replace the pump. Guess what's still wrong... The FUCKING PUMP!!!! $2200 and 3 days later still no truck! They say it'll be done at 10AM tomorrow.

Question: If it had low pressure with a "partially blocked line" shouldn't THAT have told you that the PUMP wasn't pushing enough fuel? The way I see this, correct me if I'm wrong, the pump will push the same pressure through a partially blocked line or a clear line? I know volumn would be down, but pressure should remain constant, correct?
 
60# of pressure will always be 60# of pressure, whether it's thru a garden hose or a sewer pipe.
