Why Mopar?

Just had a three part question, no real reason just bored.
1) Why are you into mopars?
2) Would you/do you own other brands of '60-'70 cars or trucks.
3) If you were forced to own and drive another non mopar 60's/70's car what would it be?

1) For me it's not really a family thing as my dad is a chevy fan, it's more of just a thing where when I look at other brands I always think hmm I'd rather jst have a mope.
2) I don't think I would buy another brand in that year range.
3) I think If I had to I would want to have '64 GTO, or a cutlass convertable(442)

1.)I grew up in the 60's when the Mopes were kickin' everyone elses a$$es on the tracks. Win on Sunday, sell on Monday. :D

2.) I've been there, done that. :( Everyone else does too.:(

3.) I would probably go Olds or AMC

Been a Moparnut all my life.
My dad had a 64 Belveder, his mom had a 59 Custom Royal (salmon color / red roof).
My aunt bought a brand new 67 Dart that I still remember. Richard Petty drove Mopars (except for a brief foray into the Ford camp in 69).
Mannix from TV had a 70 Cuda.
All the TV cop shows seemed to have Mopars as their cruiser of choice.
For all these reasons plus the fact that Chryco of old had attached such a cool name to their brand, how could you not love them?
Mopar. It even sounds cool. Beats the h*ll out of Bowtie or Blue Oval. Those names conjure up images of the geeky kid you used to beat up and Mom's china pattern.

Truthfully, I have owned other brands, and like almost every car. Just like Mopar better.

If I had to drive another make and could actually afford to pick ones that I liked, I'd pick a 69 Chevelle small block with a four speed, or a 67-68 Mustang Fastback with a big block.

It isn't the same old stuff. something different.
I have owned more than a handful of Chevies, a fist of Mustangs and even a 442.....but I like my Dodge, brings back memories of the car I was brought home from the hospital in. Pure Nostalgia. [smilie=a:

1) They are badass rides.Unique and eye catching styles/colors that give me pleasure. [smilie=c:

2) Had more cars/trucks than I can count. (run out of fingers and toes at 20....) Will I ever own another brand 60-70's vehicle? Prolly not. [smilie=w:

3) Forced to drive a non Mopar you say? [smilie=e:
'70 GTO Judge,Ram-Air...Orange in color. [smilie=a:

1. I feel they are the coolest designed and most freely optioned musclecars ever made!

2. I would own Ford and AMC products if had the chance.

3. It would be a Ford: Mustang, Torino or Cyclone.

petty for 1..however he did drive pontiac for a while.dukes of hazzard..and the fact that there are no mopars that are "a dime a dozzen"

60-70s non mope...love my 58 ford...

forced?!?!?..50s american steel ..or 60-70s nissan toyota MINI-cooper/austin/rover/leyland (think toyota celica or 2000gt..nissan 210 510 great fast small cars)

60-70s anything but mopar or import everyone seems to have one

A few different things influenced me:
- My Dad had Dodges when I was little.
- Richard Petty.
- not the Dukes though - I watched the show, but wasn't a huge car nut at the time. (I had a girlfriend that kept me busy at the time.)

Never had a 60/70s muscle car but I did drive a 74 LeSabre. Not really by choice, though. Funny, as bad as that thing was, I could still get the chicks....

I never used to admit liking Mustangs, but my old neighbours MACH I was a cool car. That or a big-ass fin car from the late 50s..

Then again, the first car that ever made me drool was a 67 E-Type Jag... It had a lot of buttons

1: I dont really know what got me into Mopars, but the Dukes was one reason, and then buying a book that explained other Mopars really got me progressing onto other types. Now Dukes arent even a real part of my life anymore.

2: HECK NO No other cars besides MOPAR. I am a True Mopar guy. Owned one Ferd though, took it on a trade, was thrown in for free, then traded it for a '78 Fury Cop Car.

3: If I HAD to? Maybe an early Mustang, Vert, Coupe, or fastback, dont matter. I like '64-'65s the best however. MAYBE a '59 Caddy (Love the fins and taillights).

1. No particular reason...but that has since changed :D The NYer was the first thing I laid eyes upon when I told my dad, "I want an old car!"

2. Never owned any classics other than Mopars. I'm only 22! The other makes are cool, but not Mopar cool. Plus I like the challenge of finding parts for said vehicle that no one repros. To me, it gives a great sense of accomplishment. You can practically mail order a camaro or a mustang nowadays....and frickin' everybody's got one. I am not everybody!

3. If I had to own another make, a '69 442 W-30 'vert would be near the top. Old Lincolns are cool. '62 triple black Caddy 'vert....oh hell yes [smilie=b:. Some big ass Buick or Ponitac yacht would suffice also. I like the big cars :D

(1) I'm a converted Mustang guy! Where I grew up you either had a Camaro or a Mustang......Not many Mopes around. But I always loved Mopar's style, reputation, bold color's.

(2) Owned 8 Mustangs in my time, mostly Mach 1's. owned 4 Mopes. '73 and'74 RoadRunner, '70 Fury and '72 Dart.

(3) '70 Mach 1, still one of my favorite cars...Boss 302 or Boss 429 and '71 429CJ Mach 1.

1 -Engineering over fluff.
The whole philosophy of taking a family sedan, painting it some bizarre color, sticking outlandish decals on it, tossing in the maximum motivational power on the planet. While the others are scurrying trying to design a body that captures youth. While the boys are putting the touches on this year's Mustang or Camaro, Ma is stuffing hemis into square boxes, tossing on cartoons and saying "Let's go!"

2- Hard to answer. If there were no Mopars, I'd feel different, but since there are, the others don't really do it. Maytbe a 1969 1970 442. Really dunno.

3 - Shoedebaker. Dual hoof power.

Always liked the underdog (as in fewest sold, smallest companies). UntilI learned to appreciate their engineering and sales strategey.

I owne only Mopars. Not necessarily through want. Just common sense.

I'd own a 69 Javelin or AMX if I didn't/couldn't have my standing count.

why mopar

1) because mopar built high performance engines like the 426 maxwedge stage II and III, the 440 magnum and supercommando and of course the 426Hemi which has a lot of victories in nascar as well as in drag racing (nearly undefeated since its introduction in 1964).As the mopar 1992 ad says:"Mopar a rich tradition in motoring" on that i agree

2) because i have some family in the us who owns two mopars: a 67 imperial coupe and an imperial 70 lebaron sedan. Also i have another uncle who lives in Lausanne (Switzerland) had an imperial 1960 southampton lebaron sedan but he sold it 4 years ago, he also owns another mopar a 69 charger

3) besides mopar muscle cars,i like the chevelle ss 454 ls6, the buick gs 455, olds 442 455ci w33 400hp engine, ford mustang gt 428 cobra jet, ford mustang mach1 with 428cobra jet, supercobra jet or a 429 boss

1. A fellow around the hill from me had a 64 Dodge race car with a hemi in it. The "Guyandotte Shaker". I'd love to find that car now.

2. I've had all kinds of cars, but none of them were anything but transportation except for my muscle-era Mopars.

3. Dunno, anything but a 67-69 Camaro?

a 67-69 camaro would be fine check the ss 396 with 396ci l78 375hp engine or the 1969 camaro zl1 only 69 built or the camaro yenko with 427ci l71 435hp engine sweet car.

1) the reason i got into mopars..is because my family was all about mopars.....my dad has a 89 power ram sincei can remember time...and it was the idol to all kids my age.....and well i naturally loved that truck ..still do........the only story i can remember my dad tellin me about other brands was that he could beat the pants off of them in his 340 Challenger.........except for one lone mustang in the area...

2) have not owned another brand.....but its possible that i will one day

3) forced to own a non mopar?? hmmm a 67-70 mustangs....shelby cobra? ......could go with a chevelle..

1. Why Mopars ?? Because they are the best and I also like the underdogs. Seemed everyone in my neighborhood was a Chevy guy but they were all followers and did not have enough brains to think for themselfs. Me ..........I could see Mopars were the best with no trouble at all. [smilie=e:

2. There are other brands ?????

3. If no Mopars I would go nuts !! But I do like the 69 428 SCJ Stangs or an AMC Hurst SC/rambler. Ron

1. Why??? First mopar was a 68 Charger 440/4spd (shouldn't have traded it) That hooked me nothing ever since has compared. Mom and Dad did have a rather nasty 70 Coronet wagon w/440 when I was young though.

2. I've owned most of them, Camaro's, Mustang's, Never will again Dodge or Die!!!!

3. If they all blew up tomorrow I'd buy a Hurst Scrambler or a Rebel Machine.
