Tim Kuniskis told Automotive News a few weeks back that DodgeHellcats (Charger and Challenger) would cost more than 2015 models, but he didn’t say how much. This has created a frenzy of discussions, but to keep things in perspective, the cars are so much less expensive than competitors that the company could add $10,000 and still have bargain pricing.
In power, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat sits between the $400,000 Lamborghini Aventador (690hp) and the $320,000 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta (730hp). The 2015 Hellcat Challenger starts at $59,995, giving it a price advantage of $260,000 over the Ferrari and $340,000 over the Lambo.
The Ferrari and Lamborghini both have clear advantages in overall performance, but in a straight line, the Hellcat Challenger will hold its own with the European supercars. (...) →
