Very possibly the only 340-powered, 3.54 Dana-reared 1979 Chrysler 300 in existence (the original 360 is in the Duster, the OEM 9¼" had a bent axle shaft):

Kev's '71 Charger R/T, 440/4-speed/3.54 Dana, which was the wedding car (since he was the one bein' married, and all). Some jackass in a Mustang GT convertible started shyte with us at a stoplight on the way to the wedding, actually. Despite missing 3rd gear (butterflies, I suppose), Kev handed the Mustang its ass so badly, no matter how slow we went, the guy wouldn't pull up alongside us. We stopped, but he turned off half a block before he got to us. :D

The owner of this car, who stood in the wedding as well, first found the car in 1984. He pestered the original owner for over 15 years, finally buying the car in 1999 for $1500--in much worse shape than it was in '84. Yes, that's mostly original paint, but the roof and deck are in primer.

Seeing one of these things up close gives you a good idea of the hack job these NASCAR specials really were. I wish I'd have gotten a shot of the underside of the decklid... nasty fab work. Check out the window plug and that fancy trunk seam (just primer over original bodywork):

This car is loaded with options, including AC, power disc brakes, AM/8-track stereo radio, rocker mouldings (which are '68 style, I'm told), chrome road wheels, light group, console auto, woodgrain steering wheel (no cracks!), etc. He's turned down nearly $45,000 for this car in its current condition, which isn't particularly great (obviously).

Remember way back, when you had to chisel numbers into stone in that communal cave all the young folks went to, shortly after the earth cooled? That was called "school" and most places let their little Neanderthals run wild for aboot 90 days. They call that "summer vacation" and it usually evaporates around one's 18th birthday.

Oh, wait... replace "chisel numbers into stone" with "quill ink onto papyrus." I mixed you up with 68R/T. :D
 
Very nice collection. Are the headliners in those 500's custom or does legendary carry those?. What was he asking for the Duster?.
