Hiding In The Bushes While
Ok you guys probably remember my buddy who bought a '96 Dakota from my brother, you know the one with the missing on 2, 4 and 6 and is believed to be caused by fuel starvation of somekind?

Ok, good. :D

About a month ago he had asked me about cutting out his catalytic converter to make his exhaust louder, I told him that you can't because the O2 sensor is behind the cat in that OBDII truck.

So Last weekend, a friend of his (John) who is a self proclaimed "Journeyman Mechanic" (I.E Dumbass!) told him that his missing and sluggish power were because his cat was plugged so like a fool my stupid buddy cut the damn thing out.

And when I asked him what did he do about the O2 sensor???

"Oh, John told me to cut the sensor off and tie the two wires together."

Little to say I was speechless that he would be that ignorant of my advise and listen to Joe Fuckhead about what to do because he "says" he's a Journeyman, now I know this person and he has NO papers, NONE.

God this bugs the crap outta me.

Dumbass.:doubt:

Yep, sounds right  :wtf: fuckin dumbass

What the hell is a "journeyman mechanic"?

I'm ASE certified,:Fresh Meds: that and a couple bucks will get you a cup of coffee, and I have 10+ years undercar experience and have never heard anyone :huh:dumbass, "jakeleg" or redneck say that twisting the wires together on an O2 sensor will make it work... WTF where do these morons get there info :wall:?!?!?!

John needs a new career choice is an understatement, maybe the local Walmart could use a new greeter...
job requirements: breathing

I'm totally speechless... maybe for his next trick he will try laying a wrench across the battery terminals while wearing 15 pounds of gold bracelets, and standing in 6 inches of water...:shifty:

Well I talked to him this evening and after explaining to him that John is a fucktard I was able to convince him to buy a new replacement cat and O2 sensor and just leave it the way it shows in my shop manual.

Yeah after showing him an actual 1996 Dodge Dealer Repair manual he smartened up.

I did forget to ask him how the truck ran after that though.

I'm just glad I was able to make him see the light.;)

Not taking anything away from your powers of persuasions, but I would bet that a lot of his will to replace the now missing cat and O2 sensor has a everything to do with how the truck runs without them.

being from west virginia i see alot of that :wtf: my buddy bought a 82 ford-150 when he got it home it didnt run anymore. i popped the hood and the first thing i saw was a stick jammed into some opening in the carb that would have normally been covered with a hose... then.....there were all these loose wires tired together and duct taped then going ot nothing hanging form the a relay.. i swear some people..i dont claim to be a mechanic but i also dont mess with what i do not know lol . needless to say he paid 500 dollars for a truck that drove home parked then never moved again lol.

Yorkton right?

No suprise...lotsa guys like that there. It's quickly becoming the "town that time forgot."

Gee Nodda! Howdya guess!? :bwuhaha:

I think Stretchy nailed it, He didn't seem to say to much about what happened after the fact. :bwuhaha:
