Yup, I agree 100% Doc.
Cars are arguably better then they've ever been before, but they're just so frigging boring nowadays.
Case in point: my wife's Nissan Qashqai SUV is a lovely little car, great on gas, kind of peppy, fair amount of room and versatility for it's size, reliable, etc... but if I still drove, I'd be sick of it by now. It's just another car. Close your eyes and you can't tell it apart from anything else on the lot today.
It IS bright orange pearl, though... so it's got
that going for it, which is nice.

On the other hand, I daily drove our VW Beetle for 8 years, and while it's horribly slow and underpowered, lacks room (and heat), is only marginally reliable compared to the maintenance free cars of today, isn't great on gas even though it's engine is smaller than the Nissan's and has no room or versatility to speak of, I'd MUCH rather ride in it.
That old Beetle has a soul, something that just about every new car lacks
