Welp, my ass will be off to the track tomorrow night.

Reason for asking is that I'm trying to comapre it to a buddies 318 that ran 13.8...

there is a small phenolic spacer under

Thats why i was asking about the TQ...help keep the charge cool.

You car is a little heavier than his, but your cam is a little stronger also...

If you reckon the rear set up is killing ypu...then thats a cheap place to start...(spring clamps and a snubber should see a big improve).....

...but I reckon you still need more gear in back....My mates car ran 4.11's, on a similar size rear wheel....

Oh and BTW....PLEASE tell me you're runnng headers???

Any idea on what kind of air the 13.8 was ran in? It does make quite a bit of difference, i know i bring it up a lot. But thats because I'm always running in bad air. I see people complain about 3,000ft D/a days. I'm almost at 6,000ft. I do have a pinion snubber, i have superstock springs and adj drag shocks to go on the car soon.

I am running headers, and I'm not into more gear really. The low gear set in the trans drops the 1/2 ratios. I need to change the springs and dial the car in. Not change parts. If i didn't change a thing, i would run about a 13.80 come november when it cools off to about 3,000ft air. Thats how much it hurts things

Fair points...when you mentioned the rear end needing setting up I assumed it was "factory"

Can't do much about the "air" issue I guess...except move !! :D

I mainly butted in because of the limited improve you saw with the new converter...figured there must have been a problem somewhere....from what i've read of your build I would have thought 13.5 would have been a certainty.

Your ET vs mph is where it should be....so figure you need HP.....

I'm one of these people thats not convinced 360 heads are the way to go on a teen.....if you are driving in crap air, you want a very efficient head with great velocity...Tell me about your heads...what do they flow at .3 and .5? What valves?

I agree i do need a few more mph/hp. Its struggling with the air of course. I'm not giving up on that converter not being a good buy until the suspension gets sorted out. feels like zero weight transfer, launches terrible. it feels like. it is faster than 14.30, i know i keep complaining about the air, but its hard to compare someone elses combo to mine without factoring that in. Say valcudas car runs 13.70 right? My 14.30 corrects to a 13.1....so someeeeewherree in the middle between 6,000ft and 0ft the car will turn mid 13s just fine. And you said to move...well i am lol. to florida. i should be able to get some decent air there :D

no clue what the heads flow, they are stock 2.02 j's. Ports havent been touched, this build wasn't very in depth. it was put together with spare/free parts. like the heads, were free. So really i'm not going to stray too far from its basic combo. The 360 im getting next week will be much more in depth. I wish i could get a d/a for what ValCuda runs 13.70s in...im curious how my stock port j's, heavier car, etc, etc, stacks up to his lighter, ~$850 ported heads, etc,etc runs.

Not comparing apples to apples until you figure what air your running in. If its ATCO or Colorado, its all will correct to the same, which is why there is a correction factor...to compare times to a base altitude so things are evened out on the same playing field.

2.02 Valves are pretty big for your stick and gears....I reckon if you were going to change anything...I'd be looking at some 1.88 stainless nailhead backcuts in some 'touched up" 302's or 308's.....

Velocity is hugely important to a teen, as its velocity NOT flow, that gives you the torque down low ...not too much mind....but I reckon Ryan could probably suggest a better "cheap" option than std 360 large valve heads ....

Still, as you say, can't knock back a freebie....I guess we wait till you get to Florida and see what it does there..

thanks mal, yes they were free already milled and the 2.02s in them. i wasnt/and dont plan on changing the heads. I'll leave it as it is, even though i know its not ideal...its a basic motor thats running ok figuring how it was put together. I'll see how it runs in florida when it can breathe.
