Recently, Reuters reported that talks were taking place between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Volkswagen, saying that VW representatives had toured the Pomigliano plant that produces the Fiat Panda. Reuters’ source was a story published in Il Giornale, a conservative Italian daily broadsheet.
When Allpar checked the Il Giornale piece it appeared that the reported “visit” took place in 2013 and the article was simply renewed speculation.
FCA owns robots maker Comau, whose assemblydevicesare used by many automakers, andit’s possibly that the company wastrying to demonstrate this equipment in action — if the rumor was true.
