Is your crank machined for the pilot bushing on the 4 speed Shane? Not all cranks are.

Thankfully it is. I found that out when the torque converter wouldn't fit into it.

Why wouldn't the torque converter fit? That make no sense. The torque converter should fit either crank.

Was the pilot bushing/ bearing still in it?

It doesn't matter. The factory pilot bushing is well out of the way of the converter snout. The 340 in my Charger had a factory pilot bushing in it but the car was an awfulmatic.

I ran into that years ago. Somewhere between '63 & '72 they changed the diameter of the snout of the torque converter. :wtf:
