Given that with the capability of telescopes we currently use, there are an estimated 50 billion other galaxies that are viewable. Given that our current telescopes are still very primitive and can only see a very small portion of the universe....double or better that 50 billion number. Each galaxy can contain billions or more stars. So multiply the galaxies by stars and get that number.
How many of those stars have planetary systems surrounding them? How many of those planets could support life of some sort?
The only amazing fact is that we are content to think we are the only ones around. Our neighbors may be too far away to borrow a cup of sugar (for the present time anyway) but just given the probability by numbers. If it screwed up on Earth, it must have screwed up on other planets too. And if you think GM has a nightmare recall list, imagine God trying to recall planets that have become infected with life of some sort. Wonder if He outsources to call centers?
