tiny...aka 1958 lloyd

lol actualy doc..the dash would be rescessed quite a bit and 100% ALL lighting on the ENTIRE car will be LED and LED only save for the headlights.....for now.....cause the led headlights are bloody expensive..so lighting them isnt an issue..couse..your piviot idea does work along another line i was working with..and that was that i want to fill the whole recess area with a funky stamped aluminum(the runover old dinner style) so i could have a panel flip into the dash like hide away headlights so that the trim is undesturbed when off and then theres no wireing moving too

Behind tinted plexi, simple LEDs won't be enough in broad daylight. You'd need halogen lamps; tint ain't easy to overcome.

.
well loosing the plexi for the aluminum on a hideaway setup isnt a half bad idea..its one i tossed around a bit..and never finished tossing around lol

i couldnt help but take these....
shrunk in the wash?

and its truest alfa sister....so this is what you get when you cross an alfa with a desoto right?

WOW...That sure puts the Llyod in perspective!! Or maybe the Desoto is just so friggin huge!! :D Great pics.... :2thumbs:

The De Soto is a tad on the plump side, yes. :D .....and also yes, the Lloyd is that tiny! :D Although pic 2 heavily exaggerates the size difference. Not so bad in person but still quite a size difference.

You "bulked it up" and next to that DeSoto, it still looks like a pee-wee. :D

I just spent over 4-1/2 HOURS reading this topic and it's absolutely unreal the effort and time you have put into this project.
From the car as it came in with a stock drivetrain, to the 2.2/5 speed idea and scrappage, to the jigging and shortening of the chassis, to the widening of the body and doors (A veritable work of art in itself), to the working out of the hood and grille design.

Whether you know it or not, Kirk, this thread is a veritable treasure trove of information and rare artistic skill, a thread that was WELL WORTH the sore back and ass, one I was most unwilling to take bathroom breaks for.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE PICS AND THE DOCUMENTATION!!!

Mark.

well..time for an update
so a while back i started working up on 40 acres in a 30x60 shop...and its been in my head that this is a "1 man back yard" build in a single car shop 100% solo..and i wanted to finish it in the humbleness..but the size of my work space vs the size availible to me has really been fighting me...and with my boss willing to fund ALL finishing touches..and the sshow coming in june.....ive descided to suck up my pride and take advantage of whats in front of me...this comming week shes going to roll up onto the trailer and head for the 40 wrapped in a tarp..in fact theres snow on the ground up there right now

in the past few months i managed to FINALY track down and get a set of seats from a 80s nissan minivan that fit like they were made for it and there 4 way? adjustable and plenty comfortable for long haul...on top of that ive slated out a 58 ford dash to get hacked WAY down and give me a place to put my own guages....and to add a lil more to the gut..im going to take a spare set of 58 ford side glass trim and use the bottoms to continue the dash lines around the interior....ive got but a few shots for you guys of the seats

Wow that was a heck of a packaging job you did there. It was like unwrapping a giant Christmas present. ;)

Man I wish I could move the Desoto around that easily....:shifty:

well i wasnt worried about the first 18 miles of freeway...but the 7miles up hill i knew had been sanded with some pretty course stuff..but even still no biggy..but the last 7 miles...well i knew the muddy gravel roads with random snow on it would have made a HUGE mess....the last car i hauled thru those condidtions had 2 inches of packed slush mud and gravel and lost a headlight from it....so i layed a few feet of tarp on the trailer and ran over it then wrapped her up..so that tarp was going NO WHERE...what amazed me was how much of the body lines still jumped out thru the tarp

rather productive day...the lloyd was on the lift for the first time..so i got a chance to have a good long hard look at all of my work from the bottom up...the chassis is stiffer and more welded that i thought it was..guess my overkill mentality really did its job...theres a TON of stuff under it to weld and clean up but on the lift thats going to be EASY...me and tim did a TON of cleanup..i chopped down a unmolested(not even cut for a aftermarket radio) 58 ford dash about 16 inches came out of it..also got the drivers door handle installed and working tho i need to make a wrecker run for a pull to push cam off of something else
im too tired to think..ill let the pics do it for me

so..ive now dragged the other lloyd in..put it on wheel dolleys for easy moving(after major surgery to the casters grinding filing drilling lubing)..once it drys out ill be working on it side by side with this one even tho its going bone stock er clone stock....figured out how i wanted the rear door to latch..as i had another milano trunk latch(same thing i used on the hood) so i started calculating and cutting and made it all work out nicely.....i also noticed some MAJOR alignment issues with the rear door..not so much the door itself but the opening..remember the car fully came apart....so i had to work over jack up tweek and brace it all to the right shape then cut and crop in some bits and then notched out a section and aadded in a perminant tie bar..now the rear of the car is SOLID..ive got some more brace work to do back there but all in all its now crazy solid back there and i have room in the well that will be created there to add a 9x11x28 (anyone know how many gal that is?)aluminum fuel tank and a optima battery all sitting below the top of that brace
