gathering parts like a squirrel gathering NUTS
well this is not even near NADs Not A Duster's Most Excellent Progress DEMON resto .
but it will take time & $$ and more time & $$$ depending on my state of mind and cash flow :D
i have lived with this MESS under the hood for 5 years , so i guess the JACK INCIDENT may have been kid ofa blessing . :D when i would goto cruises all my buddys could open their hoods ,, mine always stayed SHUT or i opened it but kept it way low , just so somebody could see the 440 .
but this summer ill be able to open the hood and be proud of the road runner .

what is this box on the firewall next to the ballast resistor ? VOLTAGE REGULATOR ? it looks like leaked some black goo from it at some time . thats what im guessing its from . anyway i dont think its good . what would cause that ?

Yup, that's the voltage regulator. Oozing black goo is not good, I'd replace it when you put it all back together.

I feel your pain. The underhood of my car isn't anything to write home about either but I'm going to wait to do it when I do the rest of the car (whenever that'll be).

What's with the blue paint in the engine bay?:hmmm:

:hmmm: ill have to look into that :hmmm:

:looky:

the original color was GB5 True Blue Metallic then some ugly red then black the black again . the engine bay is only the start of this . i have to redo rhwe door jambs , under side of the rockers " look like they were never painted " front valance , the trunk . and a few other hidden places that wernt painted black correctly .

well its been over a month and i havent gotten very far at all  but i have to give a big THANK YOU to ROB R :bravo: got me to thinking aboot what dirrection i want to go with the motor and has been a great help :bravo: :bravo: :bravo:

i planned on just throwing a paint job on the 440 and maybe add a cam well that all changed . i found that my heads were 213 motor home heads . so i got a set of 452s that im going to have done .

in my other posts aboot my crank shaft , ROB spotted that i have .030 forged pistons and told me to take a head off so i could get a pic to him of the pistons at top dead center . i guess the original owned had a bit of $$$ put into the 440 back in the 80s .
so i finally got to get back to work on it today after aboot 3+weeks away from it its almost ready for paint . after a bit more cleaning .

BOOTHEAD , what do you mean the work looks familiar ? HISTORY of the rr ,,,,it was in HONOLULU HI . all its life the original owner "who is the only one to ever did anything to the 440 " donated it to his church in the mid 1990s then a kid in the army bought it at a church auction , in 1999 the kid had it shipped it over to CLEVELAND OH. then in 2000 sold it to a guy who deals in MOPARs from MEDINA OH . " AL " is his first name . he had it repainted and striped then i bought the rr in may of 2001 .
i finally tracked down the kid " MATT " and called him to ask aboot the history of the rr ,, he knew nothing ,, just drove it and nothing else . last year i got ahold of the original owner " ERIC " from what he recalls the only thing he had done was bored it .030 over and put a cam in he knows nothing about any machine work being done . here are a few pics of the 213 MH heads .
