Well fellas,

Hada battery out back and was running some of my cars there. Some hadnt been started since last year. I think my '78 Monaco 2-dr was last started 4 or 5 months ago or so.

Anyhow, just for kicks I decided to light it off. I drove it to its parking spot so why not? The reason its parked is because of a busted trans shifter pivot (yeah busted case) and a dropped valve on #2. I drove it that way for quite awhile, tortured that little motor VIA no oil pressure, overheating during no pressure, etc.

I figured it had to get me home and it did. I had another motor waiting for it. Fast forward through many projects (BUT! The BB Truck is STILL in the drive waiting my next move!) and its parked.

Well anyway, it ran! Ran like crap for the first few minutes mainly because I flooded it and backed down the dist way too much. After several fireballs, I decided to recheck it and it ran fine after I advanced it.

So now I'm standing at a crossroads. I REALLY like the car and really want to drive it.

So, should I KISS or go in with a 360 or BB? Problem with that is that I've already got 2 inch duals on the car set up for a 318 and they are in good shape. I've also got some 318s around.

If I KISS I'm going to basically run the 2-v thats on the car, NOT really wanting the hassle of a 4-v Swap, though I've got the intake.

What would be good for gas mileage, a 318 or a 360? I'm wanting 20 and is possible for this smaller late B Dodge.

Also will R-Body cop car frontend stuff work? Friend has a parts '79 Newport 360 cop car and from what I understand its just an extended B-Body.

I think just firing a parked ride like that renews interest.

Go for the 4-bbl.

The 318 and the 360 are good for 20, i think. Go with a 318-4V if you want, but whatever you do, get RID of the Lean Burn, or you'll be sorry...those things sap power like a mosquito on a cut.

Oh yeah, Lean Burn was already deep-sixed when I got the car. Someone put a re-man points disty in it, which I traded along with $70 for a '78 Cordoba (400 car, motor/trans removed but complete, runs great!).

I used a '78 Aspen Slant harness and did the conversion, simple as plugging in a few wires and throwing an electronic VA dist in it.

What would you use it for? What purpose would it serve? Its not a tow vehicle it would just haul ass is all. Cut the top off and fake a convertible for the summer I guess. [smilie=e:

ah....did you just get the engine/tranny? if not that statement makes absolutely no sense. [smilie=b:

Russ--dood--don't do this to yourself. Just nod and move along.

purpose, why dose it need a purpose, if I had it I would just enjoy driving it now and then.

You need to read up on some of Jamie's cars. He can't do that with any of them.
