When I started the gunsmith course I only had a Beretta 92FS 9mm semi-auto pistol and a Remmington 870 Express 12 gauge pump shotgun. I started adding to my collection so I could get more familiar with other types of guns and have something I could actually lay my hands on during various parts of the course. I'm trying to keep the types of firearms I aquire quite varied. That way I'll have an example from most different types of gun actions to work with.
I currently have seven firearms:
1) Rock Island Armory, 1911 Compact Tactical CSP, .45ACP, semi-auto pistol. It's a 3.5" barreled Officer's model that I use as my concealed carry firearm.
2) Ruger, M77 Mk II, .270 Rem, All-Weather bolt action rifle with 3-9x40 Redfield scope. This is my big critter gitter.
3) Remmington, 870 Express Magnum, 12 Ga, Pump Shotgun (same one mentioned above). This one is my bad guy/home intruder gitter.
4) Ross Rifle, 1905 Mk II, .303 British, Straight pull bolt action rifle. These were used, and generally disliked, by Canadian troops in the trenches during WW1. The tolerences were too tight for the muddy trench conditions and they would jam a lot. The Canadian snipers had much better luck with them since they were usually better able to keep their rifles clean. This one needs some stock work and I'm planning on using it as a project gun when I go to a full time Gunsmith School next year.
5) Stoeger, Uplander (been cut down some [smilie=i

, 12 Ga, side by side shotgun. Yup, it's got two triggers, just like Jass likes 'em

). I've cut the barrel down from 26" to 19" and the butstock was chopped off leaving only the pistol grip. It's now 26.25" overall length, or 1/4" over the minimum legal length. I'm submitting a ATF Form 1 along with the fee so I can cut it down further. The barrel will end up being 10.5" and it will be 19" overall. When it's done it will be almost identical to the one Mad Max used in the movies. This one is nothing more than a big grin gitter.
6) Norinco, MAK-90 (modified AK-47), 7.62x39mm, Semi-auto Assault Rifle. This one has a synthetic Dragunov stock on it and I'm adding a side mount sight rail to it. Nice to have around for when the Zombies attack.
7) Homebuilt AR-15, .223 Rem, 10x42 Super Sniper scope, Semi-Auto Heavy Barrel Varmint rifle. This one I built from the ground up specifically for long range shooting at targets from 300 to 800 yards.
The Beretta 92 FS (w/5" barrel) was traded for a Springfield Armory XD-45 (w/4" barrel). I just recently traded the SA XD-45 for the even smaller Rock Island Armory 1911 listed above. I also previously had a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle, but that was sold to fund the AR-15 I just built.
I almost forgot: I got Tam a Kel-Tec PF-9, 9mm, Semi-Auto Pistol with an flush mount Armalaser on it for her birthday present. She uses it as her concealed carry piece.
These are all I've got ...for now. I'm still looking for a nice S&W Model 629 with an 8" barrel (Dirty Harry's revolver) and a Winchester Model 94, 30-30, lever action Carbine (for my dad).
