Actually, it went good. We had a big old International Uhaul truck (I'm guessing late 60's model) that was beat beyond recognition, but it ran great and actually drove pretty damn well. Plus 4 no-necks that moved all the stuff which is why I can still walk today. :bwuhaha:

No damage to any of the "stuff", but for some reason my home computer has now suffered a major malfunction of the expensive sort (I'm guessing) Looks like it may be a video card or worse yet a motherboard issue. :mad:

Bad part is all my business accounting as well as some non-backed-up art files are on there... "nah, don't need to back those up, I'm just putting it in the car and driving two miles then hooking it up at the house" now I'm freaking. [smilie=2:

Leaving the office in a few to head to the "home office" to see what I can do to get my puter up and running again. :helpme::helpme::helpme:

Anyway, cept for the puter issue it went great.

hopefully the hard drive is fine. if it is the card or the motherboard you can get a new one of tigerdirect.com for around 100-200 bucks nothing too costly . if your hard drive is ok then you should be fine i bought a new motherboard and plugged my hard drive up no problems didnt even have to install anything and everyhting was still intact

Don't worry too much, Adam. I had an expensive failure or three yesterday, as you may have read. You can simply transfer the hard drive or drives into another PC and get what you need until you get your PC fixed.
 
hmm. I had another thought...

How's the power situation in the new digs?
I've had PCs do weird things when power source got funky. In my case, it was more to do with the power supply in the PC, but You may have been close to that situation and now with a different house and a different circuit, it might be just enough to muck things up.
 
Hey all...

Well, I got my home PC working again. I pulled the ATI video card (X800) and plugged the monitor back into the "stock" video card and it's now working. Everything seems to be working smoothly so I don't think I have a motherboard issue. Looks like my card took a dump. :doh: Could be worse! It's about 3 years old and gets used A LOT :toot: I'm just glad I didn't lose any info and I guess it's a reason to upgrade (which I've been putting off).

I just finished backing up my files and I'm off (guess you all knew that) to pick up a new card.

have you checked that the card was fully seated?...

also as stated above hd's can be swaped and work fine in "most" cases....win xp can get testy "if" you change to a new mobo thats useing a diferent style chipset....i know on a via chipset board you can pretty much only swap the HD to another mobo with a via chipset
 
it was a bad v card. I tried it in another pc I have here and no-go.

Picked up a nvidia 8800gt oc (512 mb) and a better power supply and WOW does it work great. :giggedy:

Next step will be to add another gig of ram. Can't believe how cheap ram is these days. I remember when a gig stick of ram would set you back a couple hundred bucks. now it's $59.00 at tiger direct.

lol I remember my first ram upgrade, 220$ for a whopping two 1 meg sticks.

Glad to hear your move went well MBBD. :)

I'll be going through it all myself sometime soon. It all depends on when my house sells :helpme:
