The chase is over!

Stretch

Hey! There’s no easy button for a body like this!
I have been chasing this car for about 10 years now. The Monday after Easter I finally caught it. This past Monday Jass and I went out to where she has been in storage and winched her out of her resting place and onto my trailer. Shes home now and I'm itching to dig in.

This car is amazingly solid. She was born a slant six 3 on the tree. Somewhere along her road through life some one started converting her to an auto. I will be installing my '68 X head 340, My A-Body A833, and the 8 3/4 rear diff I picked up last weekend at Jefferson.

Here are a few pictures. I'll post more this weekend.

It's a good car. It's even better because he found so many of the difficult hard parts over the weekend, and I have much of the rest lying around the house and garage. Realistically, most of what he needs is small "detail"-type stuff.

Stretch, you suck even more after this weekend. Early A body.. no rust... 340.. 8 3/4... 4 speed... grumble grumble...

Except for the front of the hood. I have no idea how to repair it.

I guess I won't talk about the A-body close-ratio 4-speeds I picked up at the swap, including the 3.09 first-gear unit...

It's been a few hours sense Iron Sausage yelled names at me so I thought I would post a few more pictures of this car. Damn it's solid! It Judging buy whats in the trunk I'm going to say its fairly complete too. The worst spot on the car looks to be the dent in the leading edge of the hood. I really don't know how to fix that damage but I will be learning soon.

Now here is what I would do, but only because I'm kinda weird. I would build that hairy 340 and bolt it to a 3 speed manual and shift it right on the column. :shifty:

I was around when those cars were new and I don't recall them being this solid when they were one year old.

That's exactly what the tail shaft in the last photo is... :D

I'd leave the beauty mark on the hood, as long as it doesn't hit the grille. Then again, my Valiant is well past ugly and into Disney-wicked-step-mother hideous.

if you told me you came out here to pick it up id totaly belive you..the condition is that of what youd drag out of a barn round here

as for the hood....me id likely cut the bracing off the back and then get in there with a dolley

Man that is one clean little A-body! And I know your affinity for these early A-bodies Stretch...so I can only fathom how excited you are about it! Should be one sweet little road rocket once you have the 340/4spd in there.....Congrats!

saw you said missing little things...theres been an EARLY valiant like that out at my yard for a month now..went out a couple of days ago and found they crushed it over last weekend...it was a 2dr as well and CLEAN..was hoping it was still there to possibly get you any lil bits

Oh man. That sucks but thanks for thinking of me.

So far all I know I need is one of the reverse light lenses. I'm not sure which side but one is broken.
