That was a close one...

The paint fumes have cleared so I'm
I was up for Jury selection this morning - what a long, drawn out process that is.

Luckily, being self employed, it was considered to be a hardship to sit for the estimated 3-5 days of trial duration, so I was exempted.

I know it's my Civic duty and all that groovy stuff, and I would serve , really I would, but I'm glad to be off the hook for awhile. :)

The last time I was selected for jury duty I was asked if I could be trusted to give a fair judgement. My replay was "I doubt it. My experences with the local law as of late is that the defendant is always guilty untill proven incent." I was promptly dismissed.

I was selected to serve jury duty in the circuit court, during the "2007 session". Haven't been called yet. Not looking forward to it exactly, but it has to be better in the jury box than in the defendants chair like the last time I was there.

I've been called twice.

The first time I sat through all the boring videos and then they sent everyone home.

The second time I sat through the boring videos again but they actually needed jurors. They called 30 of us up to be interviewed, some how I was picked for the final 7. Everyone else was sent home, there was only one jury trial that day. I sat through 5 hours of the most boring testimony you could imagine with breaks every 15 minutes because every little thing that was brought up resulted in a side bar. Every time we came back from our breaks there would be another charge that was dropped. After both sides rested, I was dismissed because I was the alternate. ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH. I sat through all that for nothing.

I was a juror in the questioning they asked if I knew anyone in the DA office, as this was in Modesto before we moved to Az I told them that both my parents had worked for the DA office and my uncle was a judge. Then I told them that as this was a driving offence I had to let them know I had been arrested and plead guilty of reckless driving.
They said I sounded balanced LOL I set through the trial, they proved the driver was drunk an hour after he was seen driving reckless I pointed out that if he was on trail for reckless
driving I would have voted to convict but I convinced the others that they should acquit him of drunk driving... I wanted to see the drunk driving jerk hung out to dry but I could not vote to convict on the evidence provided..

I can't sit that long. Spot gets bored and tries to come out. :(

I was asked just recently, but due to my inabilities physically, I am now exempt. :D

Got the form in the mail once and I replied back that the measly $5 they were gonna pay me wouldn't help get my bills paid and if they wanted me to show up they could provide the wages from both my jobs and I'd think about it. I put it a bit more harsh than that but not much. Never heard anbything back! ;)
