Swinger inspection result:

Jester

In through the Out Door, so She's
Took the gold member in for an inspection today and it passed! :giggedy:

Finally have her transferred and registered in my name, and it gives Jester happy feelings [smilie=J:

Now I gotta take 10 pictures of it, send in an application and find out if the old girl qualifies for Collector's plates. It was a nice day to drive around town :)

You have to have 10 PICTURES to SEE if it qualifies for Collector plates?? Holy crap!! The only necessity for us here in Ontario (for "Historic" plates) is that the vehicle be 30 + yrs old, and the plates are only $18 for the year. Of course, there are also restrictions on the plates, similar to that of collector insurance.....no driving to the mall, or work, and only so many miles per year, etc., etc. But, we don't have to literally SHOW anything (other than ownership, of course) to get the plates......
I guess we're lucky here, eh? :giggedy:

BTW, congrats Jes, on getting it legal and all. It IS a good feeling!

Gold member, happy feelings and pictures.....sounds like the makings of a good porno.

Good to hear your member is in acceptable working order, and registered also. I understand 68R/T has prehistoric plates for his....:shifty:

Have you figured out how to condense "barely legal" into a license plate? You know we'd be disappointed if you didn't.:xl:

Wow, life really is tougher out there. We have emissions here, too, but only on vehicles 20 yrs. old or less, and you have to have it done every two years. They haven't gotten to our classics......yet. There is talk, however. I guess I just assumed Jester was in the States somewhere.
So, if/when you do get these collector plates, how much do they gouge ya for 'em? :wtf:

Down here I think it's 25 years old or older. The plates are $12, and I think that's a ONE TIME fee. I dunno if there's a specific mileage limit on them, but I do know they aren't intended for daily driven vehicles. I probably should have gotten those on the 360 duster, the '71 newport, and the '74 challenger.

Inspection? What's that? :p

Or school...pleasure use only and there is no limit on mileage or areas you can take the car....and that $300 is for FULL coverage.

Wait a minute.........I'm talking about the plates......$300/YEAR?? Are you talking about insurance? Our historic plates are $18/yr., and we have Silver Wheels insurance, which runs about $150/yr. for the Valiant. We have to have it appraised for the insurance, and that's what they base it on.
If they gouge you (and I do mean gouge, with a hot poker obviously) $300/YEAR for a license sticker, that is just out and out highway robbery!! If that's the case, what does an ordinary everyday vehicle cost? SHEESH!!!!! [smilie=2:

See with our provincialy run insurance your plate fee is included in the whole insurance cost...so for the collector plate coverage that is the plate, sticker AND full coverage (collison, comprehensive, glass, theft, etc) all in one cost.

A regular car driven everyday is usually about $800-$1000 a year...again plate, sticker, and full coverage...but that is usually the cheapest cost...for years of safe driving, no "at fault" accidents you generate a %-discount...the best you can achive is 43% savings on your insurance cost....but if you have a bad driving record...ie...lots of speeding tickets, "at fault" accidents etc your insurance can actually have a surcharge.

I know a few young and dumb individuals who it costs them $3000 a year or more for insurance!![smilie=2:

Okay, I understand now. Is that a set fee for all Collector cars, no matter what the value of the car?

It can get that high in Ontario without the stupid factor.

Young (no real driving record yet..); high risk car; area where you live; etc...

Yeah, lemme tell you our story. Mike and I are both over 50 (I'm giving up secrets here.....), and have an excellent driving record. Mike got a speeding ticket two years ago, first one he's ever gotten (and how the hell you get caught speeding in a Geo Metro, I'll never know....). We have had a total of 3 accidents between the two of us in our whole lives, none of them our fault. Two of them were in 1982, and, of course, the last one was Aug. '07. Now, that last one, as you know, was in our '67 Valiant, which was also insured under our Silver Wheels policy, which is totally separate, completely different company, than our everyday vehicles. So, come our renewal time back in May, for no apparent reason, our insurance has gone up almost $200!!!!! When I inquire about this, I am told by our broker that there "was a general rate increase in our area". Funny......no one else around here that I have questioned had a rate increase. I am thinking of getting our lawyer involved in this......
I hate insurance cos.!!!!!!

Okay, I understand now. Is that a set fee for all Collector cars, no matter what the value of the car?

Pretty much a set fee....My buddy pays $275...when I had collector plate cars a few years back it was $250...been increasing a bit lately.

But our collector plate policy is a bit bias...you can only get collector plates for either 1960 or earlier as a modified plate, or you have to be mostly orginal and then that applies to any car over 25 years.

My wagon can't get collector plates because I have too many mods to meet original standards and the wagons to new for modified plates.....

Yeah........I think I like our system better...:wtf:
