Stinky the '65 Valiant

Stretch

Hey! There’s no easy button for a body like this!
I've told the story about how I got this car before so I'll stick to the work going into it now. I'll update as work progresses but don't expect daily updates. Don't even expect weekly updates. In fact don't expect updates on any kind of time frame. I have a bunch if irons in the fire and will only be working on this as time allows. In fact work from this point on will be on hold until sometime after Christmas or whenever I finish the wood on the Oakland. After that, once summer hits I'll be camping, chasing kids around to soccer games and chasing after car parts at swap meets.

I got the old stink bucket mostly disassembled. As far as I know I have all of the body parts and trim. They all came with the car. I picked up a A-body 8.75 and axles (2 sets) KH disk brakes and spindles. A '66 Barracuda dash and the cluster, '65 barracuda buckets, and other parts to up the fun factor.

All I've really done is inventory the parts I have, clean the mouse shit from the engine compartment, Remove the transmission and drive shaft from the drivers floor, evict a 1/2 ton of dead mice and their home from the vents and passenger front floor, remove the front seat and the rubber floor mat, and clean up the floor and assess the damage to the floor pans.

My plan for the build is to change the interior color to red with buckets and a 4 speed. The engine will be a '68 340 with X heads and a strip dominater intake. The rear will get a spring relocation, sub frame connectors, and gears that have yet to be determined. Paint will be buffed Silver Poly or something very similar.

Up next is the pictures I have so far.

Enjoy, and if you have any parts I may need or parts you think I could use, or have any advice, please speak up.

As you can see the '66 Barracuda dash cluster I bought on E-Bay showed up damaged because the lazy fucker that shipped it made no effort what so ever to protect it during shipping. The fucker just dropped it in a box and sent it down the road. Hell! I'm not even sure its the same cluster that was in the auction. Oh well, I dint pay much for it.

Today I pushed Stinky into the garage and pulled the front seat and floor mat. I knew the passenger side floor was soft. Its not as bad as I expected but worse than I hoped. The drivers pan will need to be replaced as well. I'm a bit disappointed by the nickle sized hole in the passenger side of the floor hump. It just means a bit more work. Not a real big deal. The shitty thing is no one makes a full pan or pans that go from the toe board to the rear seat well like we put in Jass's car. My only choice is 4 piece pans that leave the section under the front seat original.
