Shopping for a newish truck this weekend

My white one just bit my hand for the last time, pulled a trailer with the golf cart/yard buggy for my parents one way and left it. 3 days later my rebuilt trans said adios. Okay, shxt happens let me get it checked out, $3k estimate later and no, no more, no way, no how. So now I'm looking for someone that wants a beautiful 2000 Ram 2500 4x4 for a Cummins swap.

I pull my '06 out , with the 5.7 corporate V8 to start driving it again, with the plan to fix a few minor oil leaks and issues and a plan to buy a newer truck toward the end summer. As I'm driving home from the towing company that towed my middle son's totaled Kia, I hear a disturbing clatter/rattle/something and it shuts off, luckily I'm rolling and made it through a yellow light into a parking lot. I get it stopped and try to start it back up, barely starts, I hear a loud top end knock and it shuts off almost immediately. I discussed it with a few people, y'all can chime in too, but the consensus is the MDS lifters are probably the culprit and with almost 250K a motor would be the best way to address the issues. I'll pass.

Requirements for my new truck are less than 10 year old, Diesel, 3/4-1 ton, crew cab, 4wd, heated and cooled seats, Laramie+/Lariat+ with less than 150k miles. nothing white, silver, bright red or general motors.

We'll see what comes up. I'll post pics.

id probably steer clear of any f350 as well unless they fixed the whole needing to lift the cab off to work on shit

how does a cooled seat work anyway.....wondering if its a posible retro fit for old stuff

you might just be best off building what you want...seems like its the only way to get something "solid" any more

F250 and F350 are among the most desired vehicles that are stolen. Older Chevies are also high on the list because they seem to be one of the easiest to pop the ignition.

There is no inventory available right now, this has been one of the longest weeks I can remember. Not sure how many of y'all know how big the DFW area is, but I've been from Weatherford on the west side to Mesquite, north east of Dallas, over the last few days, just to buy a truck literally a few minutes from home. I pick it up tomorrow.
2012 F250 Sterling gray metallic with black leather, Lariat, 4X4, crew cab short bed, Ranch Hand bumpers front and rear, along with their headache rack and a decent size truck box. All the buttons, and a moon roof. Other than the above mentioned additions, there's a leveling kit and that's it for modifications. 6.7 Powerstroke, with the 6speed auto and 3.73s. It checks off all the boxes I required and best of all it's not work-truck-white.

I looked at this particular truck Saturday, but it wasn't for sale at the time (it belongs to the pre-owned sales manager until tomorrow).
I said I'll buy it from you, he shrugged at the time. My wife got a call from them Wednesday, he was ready to sell. we made the deal that evening. I would already have it, but he wanted to finish up the service work he is in the middle of it. Alignment, trans service, filters and oil change.

I snapped a quick pic as we were leaving.image0.jpeg
