My white one just bit my hand for the last time, pulled a trailer with the golf cart/yard buggy for my parents one way and left it. 3 days later my rebuilt trans said adios. Okay, shxt happens let me get it checked out, $3k estimate later and no, no more, no way, no how. So now I'm looking for someone that wants a beautiful 2000 Ram 2500 4x4 for a Cummins swap.
I pull my '06 out , with the 5.7 corporate V8 to start driving it again, with the plan to fix a few minor oil leaks and issues and a plan to buy a newer truck toward the end summer. As I'm driving home from the towing company that towed my middle son's totaled Kia, I hear a disturbing clatter/rattle/something and it shuts off, luckily I'm rolling and made it through a yellow light into a parking lot. I get it stopped and try to start it back up, barely starts, I hear a loud top end knock and it shuts off almost immediately. I discussed it with a few people, y'all can chime in too, but the consensus is the MDS lifters are probably the culprit and with almost 250K a motor would be the best way to address the issues. I'll pass.
Requirements for my new truck are less than 10 year old, Diesel, 3/4-1 ton, crew cab, 4wd, heated and cooled seats, Laramie+/Lariat+ with less than 150k miles. nothing white, silver, bright red or general motors.
We'll see what comes up. I'll post pics.
