Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

So no stock at auto zone, he came out with a yellow plastic one, but while he was in the back I scrolled down on the computer & found a 552, so I had him order that, should be in tomorrow!

In the meantime I took off the extra muffler hangers, measured before & after the darn things did not move, but yet when I loosened the clamps you could clearly see the top part move away from the pipes!!!!!! ???????

So that was a waste of time & a few bucks!
 
So I traced that orange wire back, no splice the black tape is where that batch goes into the fatter harness.
Maybe the color just faded?

I don't think that's the case, because the wire is too large a gauge as well.

To be completely honest, who knows what happened there. Maybe the harness guy had a hangover, or they came up short on pink wire that day. But the damage to the plastic is evident, and I wonder if it wasn't a long-ago repair, early in the car's life, done by a dealer tech with what they had on-hand.

Regarding your leftover hardware: Ship it. I'm not going to try and sift through it online nor ask you to sort through it for the stuff I recognize. Besides, you're just going to toss the rest and I have a budding bolt bin here. Did anyone take you up on the spray gun and air-line components? Don't toss 'em--unless you're tossing 'em in a box coming this way. Katie will certainly take that stuff.
 
No one has jumped in, so I'll start boxing up, again the weight will add up fast so probably more than one box.
On the spray gun, make sure you test it with cheap paint & scrap tin, I don't remember why I stopped using it I'm sure it messed up in some way.
 
K, we have flashers!
So barring anything crazy happening when I start test driving everything works except the seat belt buzzer mess, I pulled out the buzzer because it would not turn off, now I have to disconnect the warning light that is always on too, if that does not screw up anything else I will call it good enough.
I wear the belts anyway, but that didn't help with the dang buzzer or light.

Found a few more items that I can part with, an eastwood gun, I can't remember why I stopped using his one, It must have screwed up somehow.
But it's complete, 2 tips, a full set of extra seals & gaskets.

So I went thru all the hardware & took out a small assortment of each to keep on hand, my luck I won't have what I need anyway.
So Jass 3 boxes will be heading your way, another 25 lbs of stuff & got Bob's box ready too.
Probably won't get to the PO till next week, Now what else has to go!
 
Packages going out today, I again screwed up on 2 they start at ups & end delivered by the PO, still can't figure out how that makes any sense?

One thing's for certain - it's about the $$ so it must be cheaper to forward the packages by USPS than it is for UPS to handle them through delivery.
 
UPS calls it "SmartPost" or "SurePost" or something similarly silly. It's generally much less expensive than straight UPS. UPS does the "heavy lifting" of moving the package between cities, then USPS does the delivery since they're already on a route.

One of Year One's tricks is to charge for full-price UPS shipping (plus about 75%), then actually send the parts via the UPS/USPS hybrid, which can be as little as one-sixth as much money as straight UPS. YO's shipping is already berserk--it always has been--but that's just a foot to the consumer's face.

Finally stopped procrastinating & got the insurance taken care of, went with grundy, 3 & change, now I have to schedule alignment & checking some of my items I want to be sure are done right.
 
It's pretty hard to compare rate prices amongst ourselves. Because, for one, each car is different in its' own ways. But moreso the area that you live in, based on community size, general traffic, accidents and theft rates.The best you can do is compare price quotes from providers in your area.

Unless you're in MI. Then you just reach for your ankles and smile. We've got the highest auto insurance in the country--it's cheaper for my pal to insure a 2017 Acura MDX in Atlanta GA than it is to get the same coverage on a 2010 Jetta in the U.P. "The Motor State" my flat foot.
 
I think I had hagerty when the texas 'Cuda first came to me, was down 3 or 4 hundred .but back 15 years or so.
I think when I finished the first car it was up to 6 or 7.
This time they wanted 948ish, started checking around & grundy & american classics were both in the 315 range.
Why Hagerty went Karmala I have no idea!
 
I guess I won't be driving it much this year, gotta wait 3 weeks till the 16th for my mechanic to get to it.
Well guess my months of procrastinating took their toll!
