Questions for the gals

My favorite car is a 1971 Hemi Cuda...plum crazy purple with a shaker hood.

My husband got me into cars by taking me to my first Mopar show. I saw the Cuda and fell in love....Now I catch myself looking at his magazines and wanting to go to car shows....

Are you reading the articles, or just looking at the pictures?:hmmm:

LOL...
My husband got me into Mopars. I can't really say which model is my favorite....I mostly favor all 68-70 B-body's.

My high school boyfriend was the one responsible for getting me into cars.

'72 Roadrunner......mmmmm......

:(

I wish Lisa would get interested in cars. She absolutely does not try to interfere with what I do in any way, but she also has absolutely no personal interest. I have a couple of good project car candidates I offered to have us build to be her car, and she just didn't want to. A '74 duster, a '66 big block 4 door monaco, hell I'd have even let her have the '73 challenger at one point. Now I've decided to sell the car. But anyway, not to digress too much, I wish she'd magically get interested in cars.

Eh... at least she doesnt bitch about you having all these project cars though... so her not being into them could be a blessing in disguise... or i could just be an idiot... who knows? It's really hard to find women who are into cars anymore... i know i've tried... but im still single so i guess i been doing the wrong thing... again... who knows?

This will be a novel, but here goes.

I have 3 older brothers, so they got me started. My oldest brother liked to bracket race his crappy 17 second car at Ubly Dragstrip and I would go and watch him. Plus he worked at Ford as a test driver and would take me to Chelsea proving grounds and I would go around the track with him (talk about an awesome job). He also owned a '64 'Vette ragtop (still does) and I used to cruise Port Huron with him in it. My other brother would take me to all the local junkyards and showed me how to fix tractors and $50 snowmobiles with bailing twine. :D

My first car was a '66 Mustang (I grew up in a Ford family, so sue me :dgt: ) that I drove everyday, rain or shine, even in the snow. I used to do donuts in the high school parking lot, and the one time I almost got caught the cop stopped me asked who the "boy" was who had made all those marks.

My boyfriend in high school (now my husband) drove a '72 Challenger 340 car (which he still owns and is currently restoring) and gave me a taste of a Mopar smallblock. He would street race it and won all the time. Plus we both learned about the birds and the bees in that car. :toot:

Fast forward a few years and he found a Duster on Ebay that he wanted to buy and build into a race car. The car was 700 miles away and I ended up driving it home, I fell in love with it on the way and from then on it was MINE. He and I built it together and dropped 3 engines into it so far (from a /6 to a 318 to a 360 to a 340) because I kept wanting to go faster and faster. I race it at Milan Dragway on the weekends in the spring/summer/fall.

Yeah, I quickly decided that you can't get everything in a mate, and an interest in old mopars is just one of the things I won't get from her. Like you said, many many people would kick up a fuss about the amount of cars sitting around and the money spent on them. She does neither, so I'll just deal with it. She doesn't complain about the cars, the forklift sitting in the parking area behind the house, the utility truck bed sitting in the back yard, or all the general backyard clutter of parts and tools.

i know my wife's background...she isnt into the whole msg brd thing or id have her on here..course withh all of her medical issues these days its more of a kick in the face...she grew up into a raceing family step dad raced as well as 2 step brothers..from an early age she was a tom boy hateing dresses and loveing hotwheels and her brothers tonka stuff..by 13 she was haveing more fun working out in the shop on the current drag car of the moment..once she was old enuf to drive she was dragging down the 1/4 and 1/8th ever race day..i think in high school she fell in love with my cudas befor me lol

well your lucky she doesnt read the forums...she used to be able to pack around bare engine block assemblys for shits and gigles..and worked as a semi truck frieght deliverer for quite some time....

Very cool.My better half is a strong one too[Material handler/Sears warehouse]I've never been a Big fan of girlie-girls,I like a woman with Torque so to speak.
I'm the guilty party as far as cars go.I got her hooked and we're now working on her second build. The first was a '68 Dart Hardtop-mostly stock but unfortuneately the evil rust bugs got it.Her Current project is a '79 Duster,Buckets,console,T-roof,hopefully to be hosting a mild 400/automatic this spring.
