Thanks for the complements but my son did MOST of the work including the paint on the engine...I just put it in and got it running
Mike...it wasn't a big deal for me to get fuel...one phone call and a barrel of 114 or 16 is sitting on the driveway...I just figured build the orig block low comp and not take a chance of spliting a cyl wall...I'll always be a high comp street engine guy...:giggedy:
If I ever get to build a stroker and it ends up being low deck then I will put a 383 pie tin and 383 badges on the hood. a 496 or 512 stroker disguised as a 383 might catch a few people by suprise
71challenger...the low deck made a hair under 800 hp I'm pretty sure this 514 makes over 600...I'm going to put it on the rollers and see what it's got...
don't get me wrong this engine makes POWER..!! it just doesn't incinerate the tires like the 502 does...that 4150 style carb is holding this engine back...I'll dyno it with that DaVinci dominator I have and see how much it picks up
Ron...I wanted to try that D2 intake but it ended up being a time thing...Indy sent Scott Brown the wrong intake and this project had to get finished before I found something else on the car I wanted to re do...so I just used the -2 intake and got it running...
this whole GTX engine swap front end freshen took Way Way too much time...
Rob...yep...I put EZ's on this engine...but there ported to 350 cfm so they should work...and they work VERY WELL...the carb on the engine is holding it back...it wants air and lots of it right NOW...I pretty sure the EZ will make almost the same power as a -1 but at a 1000 rpm lower with less $$$ PARTS.
those -1's on my low deck have a 350cc intake runner and flow just under 400 cfm...it goes to 8000 plus rpm in a heart beat...the ez's will never do that but they don't have to...they make POWER with less rpm...very good velocity in those ports
Rob, too bad about the dual plane. Dulcich did some mods to the D2 and got 350cfm out of it on their bench. That would have been a nice match for your EZ's.
Just curious, what did the port volume end up being on your heads ? How was the intake/exhaust flow balance ? Did you go with a split pattern cam ?
