Pop's new car

That's the only picture I have so far. This is located down by Gio. He was nice enough to say he'd go look at the car if needed but my dad is taking his chances on it being a solid car by the story that goes with the car. Hopefully that works out well for him. He leaves tomorrow morning at 5 AM to head down to Denver. I wish I could join him and meet the legendary Gionator but alas, I don't feel like sitting in the back seat of an extended cab '94 Chevy for 30 hours.

The ad:
1970 mustang fastback. Original owners, lots of memories with this car. This is a project car and will only sell to the right person who has a passion for these kind of cars. Modified 351 cleveland engine, color: white (original cimaron red).

I think it'll be a nice car if my dad does it back to original. He doesn't like red interiors but I've never seen another red on red Mustang before and I'm trying to convince him that it'll look ok but I can't find pictures of this combo anywhere. The interior is pretty well spotless besides the front seats seams splitting. The carpet is original and looks better than the carpet in my car that's ~8 years old.

The story of the car is pretty interesting. The dad of the current owner bought the car after returning from overseas in '69. Everybody stationed overseas was offered any car of their choice at a discount for their services. The current owner remembers his dad taking the kids to the park in the car and while the kids played, dad had the car parked in the shade under a tree and waxed it. The only rust that was ever on the car was in a lower quarter and that was cut out and replaced years ago when the car was painted white. The original owner passed away 2 years ago and the son that owns the car knows about as much about cars as I do about nuclear physics. He only wants to sell it to somebody who's going to take care of the car and restore it. Somehow my dad convinced him over the last 3 nights of calls that he's that somebody. As far as the modifications on the engine, all I can see is headers and a Carter AFB. He'll return Saturday night sometime so I'll try and get pictures Sunday sometime. It's not a Mopar but I'm kind of excited for him since he's wanted a muscle car for a long time but hasn't been able to due to having kids and what not to pay for.

Thats really cool. My cousin bought a 70 mach 1 new and we beat the livin crap out of it. Hope everything works out for him. [smilie=e:

Cool find [smilie=e: . I like Mach 1's looks like he will have alot of fun, and you guys can drive around together. I tried to do that with my pops but not 1 time has both of our cars been on the road the same time :D.

I think it'll be a neat picture together with my car, my uncles' 68 Charger R/T, my other uncle's '66 Mustang and my dad's new ride.

I hope it's everything he hoped for... sounds like it may well be.

Now all he needs to do is throw those Cleveland heads on a 347 stroker and find him a Cross Boss setup, and... :D

Looks like a keeper, good luck!
By the looks of the hood was it originally red? [smilie=e:

[smilie=c: Check around the hood hinges at the body, I've a lot of mustangs with rot in those spots.
So?, How much $$$?

Very cool..as far as Mustangs go the 69-70 are my favorite years.

The red on red combo is wild, certainly an eye catcher. [smilie=c:

Please tell me he will burn those Wal-Mart hubcaps first thing when he gets home? [smilie=e:

I told him to throw them into the first dumpster he sees and he agreed :D

Since no one wants to pony up a guess on what he paid, he got it for $7500 US.

I'd like to see more before paying but if the story holds up I think he did OK. Again, let him know I'm just a phone call away for any help.

[smilie=2: Fram!!! [smilie=g:
Seriously, nice score, decent price. Those (as all older 'stangs) were notorious for shock tower rot, but that one looks quite solid in the pics, and I love that interior. Tell him to take it back to red, that would look soooo nice!!!
